Flywheel removal??
Im in the middle of swapping in a new tranny and clutch, i got the tranny and clutch out but now i cant get the flywheel bolts off. I cant break them loose and its even harder since i have to jam a screw driver in there to keep it from spinning. Will i have to use a impact wrench to get them off? Any sort of ideas?
Also have another question. Does anyone have or know where i can find a diagram to hook up a blitz power id meter? i got one for free and dont know how to hook it up. thanks ahead of time.

impact will definetly work.... if u cant find one then youd have to find one of those fly wheel holders... if doing by hand..

yah lets just say this was the final straw that broke my wallet when I invested in a compressor, I think this was the only reason I bought it really, but knew it would come in handy later on. which it has kinda.

u can get one of those tools that stops the piston from moving up, which won't let the flywheel turn.... it looks like a long screw that will be screwed the spark plug hole.... it might be a cheaper alternative if u don't have impact tools on hand....

fucka an impact.
hold the front pulley with a 26 mil ( i think) socket and wrench (or push it behind alternator so it dont move if u dont have a friend. then make leverage, i used bar from floorjack, put it on the wrench with the socket to match the flywheel bolts (i think 14). and pry them! so fucking easy. why people have problems with this? ![]()

get 2 wrenches and a breaker bar or 2,
2 ways of doing it.... 1) use the breaker bar on the one u want to take off, now use the other one and hold onto the bolt on the opposite side of that bolt..... this will prevent the wheel from turning.... 2) use one on the bolt and the other on the crank bolt..... u should be fine, i like the first method. just remember u need to keep the bolt there so u can turn the one opposite of it

^^ that was how I did it, but then you run out of bolts to hold the flywheel still while you loosen the last one. but then you just use a long screwdriver and use two of the loose bolts to hold the flywheel still.

Sometime, you just can't do it without a compressor and a 500lb impact wrench. I had to change my clutch and flywheel last weekend and we tried everything. Nothing worked until we used the heavy duty impact wrench.

Do you think i could do it with a tire iron, IIRC a tire iron has 19mm so it will fit on. Hmm i might try this once i go home.

I don't know. I had three people trying to take mine off and it won't budge and that's with a 3' breaker bar. It all depends on how over torque the bolts were.

OKay, i got it off. I jam a screw driver in there and got a big breaker bar and put all my muscle into it and they brooke loose. Now i just have to take it to be resurfaced.
Does anyone know what hot spots look like? There are little spots on my flywheel but i dont know if they should be there or not.
