255lph vs. 190lph

Ok I know the Walbro 255lph is supposed to be good for 500hp. Ok divide that by 2 and you get an idea of the horsepower I am at (KA). What is the 190lph rated at? I would feel better about running a 190 I think as long as it would flow enough and then some. I am worried about outflowing the stock regulator with the 255 or 255hp. By the way I have an S14. Will a 255 be way overkill and is there any chance of hurting the stock regulator? And if not, anyway, would 190 be fine for my Fuel needs?

i ran the 255 hi-pressure for like 5 months on stock injectors and fpr without any problems. fuel pressure and afr's were all normal. but i have heard of some people having problems with too much fuel pressure.

shouldn't be a pressure problem with either one. that's what the fuel pressure regulator does.

The pump isnt going to hurt anything. Just get the 255lph and barely push it compared to pushing the 190lph a lot harder

run it with 87 octane when you smog it. It will burn faster as so not to have more unburn fuel going out of the exhaust. It will smell like it runs richer at idle though but you'll be fine when they test it at 15mph and 25mph.

uhhhhhh no one mentioned whether it would outflow the stock regulator though, im just worried over a long period of time the regulator will go bad because of the increased pressure on it.

...also im a little confused, doesnt a pump flow the rated amount all the time? and the regulator returns what it doesn't need...that would mean at low demands, a 255 would be overkill and be super rich if the regulator couldnt meter the fuel back.

no the regulator won't go bad on low demands. It would go bad at high demands. Also it determines the flow to the engine as well as some other parts. But it won't overkill your regulator. Remember, other people have done this mod already. I have done it on other cars with no mod to the regulator.

Constant return if fuel heats it up. If you don't need the flow, no need to get that big a pump.

If you are really that concerned about the stock FPR's useage life, just shuck out a few extra bucks and pick up a nice Sard FPR. They're only around 140 bucks, and one of the more reliable ones out there.

Are you planning on getting the 255lph fuel pump because you plan to go big power in the future and dont want to buy something twice?

no i mainly want to know if 190lph would be enough for lets say even 300-350 hp...from what i understand about 255lph being good for 500hp, i think the 190 should be enough for my concerns and surely keep the stock fpr working properly.

Coming from 90 GSX eclipse I know the 190 is good for low 12's in the 1/4. Thats 350-425 hp. The 4g63's had a problem with the 255's over power the fpr and 190 worked fine. Hope this info helps a little.
