Question for S14 sr20det owners

Do you guys really like the variable valve timing for this engine? Is it that much of a big deal compared to a s13 redtop? Can you actually feel the vtc kick in like vtec does on honda engines?

The vtc is alot different than vtec. vtc has to do with cam timing and is continuously variable and vtec has to do with valve lift and is like an on/off switch at a certain rpm point, around 4k?
If you have plans for big power the S14 SR is not really worth your money, go with the s13 SR. If you are just doing some mild bolt ons like exhaust, intake, and intercooler than it might be worth your while. I really like my s14, I have lots of power down low and compared to most turbo engines the boost comes on at low rps and very smoothly. Its very easy for me to drive my car not going above 2k rpm. something else that makes a big difference in how fast the engine builds power is the bb turbo. The combination of these two gives the engine a broad, smooth power band even though its a turbo engine.
