New megan coilovers after 50 miles and some problems.
Have droven with a pair of new megan coilovers in the rear for about 50 miles with the dampers set at damper to soft. (I havent installed front pair yet.)
At the beginning, the ride was very harsh. The spring oscillated too much. But handle felt very light. The way car shifted its momentum to any direction that I steered was very fast and dynamic. The car felt light. After the 50 miles, I changed damper setting to most hard out of curiocity. Guess what... The light handle feel is gone and car doesn't exhibit the momentum transfer as dynamic as it used to. The car feels sluggish and heavy. What is happening? |

i cant understand what your saying. but...why dont you install all four corners, and get an alignment. then see what happens...

alot of what the poster described seems pretty subjective and personal. It could merely be inexperience overall, rather than a problem with hardware
Have you ever had coilovers before? |

hey i got my gab coilovers from ebay, im not saying EBay is bad, Ive ordered like clear corners and ish like that in the past and they suck. Stuff like that. but some things on ebay are gold and worth buying.
Maybe just play with ur settings on ur coilovers, too bad u dont know anyone with some megan coilovers to give u some feed back on them. I saw a write up on the megans in FA.com go search it i know for a fact theres a thread that explains the goods and the bads. |

Come back when you have the front coilovers installed. Then tell us what you think.
After two drift events, and roughly 2,000 miles of driving, my MR coilovers seem to be holding up pretty well. No complaints, other than having a 32-way adjustable shock is just 16-18 clicks, too many. |

Got the MRs from underground.
It could be my inexperience but my senses are not deceiving me. Handling and maneuvering became worse as I changed from soft to hard and when I changed back to soft from hard, the handling and maneuvering feels same. |

well, its all weight transfer and rebound/comp. just think about how drastically it would alter the handling if you had stiff ass rear and sloppy ass stock front (i dont have MRs, but ive read that when one person put it on the stiffest, he could feel the lines at the cross walk while driving over them)? then changing over to sloppy ass stock front and a "slightly stiffer than stock" rear? its going to mess with the whole car...just do all four, dial in what you want and everybodys happy

I've had mine I guess for about 2k miles now and they still feel great. I really think a car would feel retarded with that drastic of a difference between front and back spring rates, and dampening. Also, the front will effect turn in alot more than the back. As far as feeling sluggish, mine car feels anything but that. Going to Frankfurt a couple weekends ago, I had to pay super close attention driving, cause cruisin at only 110mph on the autobahn, the car reacts quickly to anything. If I barely move the wheel it darts across the road and when I hit cracks and bumps the car tries to "skip" around. On a side note though the KA24E held up great. 110mph for an hour, and it didn't blink. At 175k miles on her, that's pretty cool.
P.S. That Megan exhaust kills you at 100+. You have to yell at the person in the pasenger seat to talk. BTW, anyone have a MR silencer they don't want?

You = bitchslapped.
Would you ride a bike with only one wheel? No Would you skate without a board? No Don't do things halfassed. It gives you halfass quality, and makes you spend even more time doing it when you have to go back and fix what you just did. get the fronts in already, it'll change your driving characteristics likenight and day. |

Because lack of time I didn't get to install the rear. Sun went down. Work light was not bright enough.
I do know stock front and aftermarket in the back would result in something truly ugly. But what I don't understand is that the combination of stock and MR in the rear was pretty good in terms of handling and cornering in the very beginning and it got ugly when I changed the damper setting to hard setting for the first time. |

![]() It is the front that I haven't been able to install because of time. It may be too late to ask at this point but are there things you have to do on your coilovers after they are installed besides cleaning up your driveway and test driving your thing around a block? Say like not to put the damper into hard setting upto certain miles after the install or to keep drive slow until the damper gets settled? |

Think about.........on the soft setting your rear will have characteristics closer to the front stock shocks. But when you stiffen the rear up like crazy its going to really throw your car out of wack. All of a sudden you have your rear which won't give an inch and front which freely gives a yard. (exaggeration)

yes, when both front and rear are installed, come back. there is no wonder why your ride was rough. your front/rear differs so much. + the fact that many people said, you maybe just havnt felt coilovers before.

Redsunz916, you from running free???
Yeah, seriously, get the whold set in. That'd be like changing just the oil and not the filter, you're missing out of its full potential. |

There is a reason they come as a set of FOUR. You should install them at the same time. How you're driving now is unsafe. You're lucky you haven't spun out and killed someone.
Let me try to be a little more direct with what the other users are trying to say: STFU till you get the front coilovers installed. |

Guys, he is probably a honda convert....Give him some space.....
Just picking man...But yeah, you need to install all 4...This is the first time I've ever heard a complaint after only installing two of them....hum.... Actually this is the first time I've ever heard of only installing two.... Regards, Chris

wow, this is really sad.
why do people go out and buy shit w/o knowing what it does, how it works (eventhough MR's come w/ a diagram...and it's perfectly readable)? get all four on. drive the car. enjoy it. then get an alignment. |

no such thing as "suspension settling down" it's a stpuid myth a few ricers made up.
if the springs are built correctly. they should be fine the first time. Get all 4 installed then start bitching. I hope you understand what damping means. the car will feel different from different settings. it sounds like your first set of coilovers. Your center of gravity will be lower and your handling will be better. Maybe you can't handle your car?? The problem isn't the coilovers, it's your intelligence.
