SR just installed, running too rich! Help!

Ok, just installed a red-top in my 93 and it's running way to rich. Idles pretty good and when I floor it it pulls pretty good. But, when I slowly give it gas, it starts idling badly around 2200 - 3000 rpms. And the wierd thing while I was checking for boost leaks and wiring crap, I took off the maf plug and there was absolutely NO change in the idle whatsoever. What the heck is that! Any ideas on what this could be. Again, the idle is pretty good with or without the maf plugged in. Please help this sad wannabe drifter w/ no skills.

Sounds like your MAF is bad. You can use a KA sohc maf. But if your seller is reputable, he should send you a replacement for free.

it's wonderful when people answer their own questions.

Wouldn't it turn off if you unplugged the maf though? Still ran pretty good without it...

well it wouldn't turn off. I don't know about SRs but on my KA if i pull my good MAF off it will idle like butt, but it won't just shut off.

also check and make sure you are recircing, because mine ran like ass and my recirc hose was blocked off... felt kinda like a boost leak, but then at the same time felt like it was drowning out.

No, unplugging the maf will not prove the maf is bad. The car will actually idle fine and run fine with out a maf. just wont rev pass 2.5-3k If it revs pass 3k and actually hits redline, i doubt its the maf. Check your timing, sparkplug gapped at .028 and clean fuel.
