HELP! ka24de failed smog OBDII

Hey guys just woundering if you guys have ever had this problemb i took my car to a smog only station today to get it smoged so i can register it, i have a 96 240sx se. The guy put it on the rollers and did his thing poped the hood and passed, but then he grabed a connector looked like a 24pin or something and stuck it into a port underneath the steering consol to get read outs, 5 min later he waves me over and informes me that my obdII has a malfunction and that i have to wait for it to be ready to be tested/smoged. this is what the computer print out said.

this vehicle faild the MIL/check engine light due to failure to successfully complete all OBD self test.

do i have a bad ecu? i havent had any problembs witht he car and ive reset the ecu before so i really dont know what to do, plz help me out..

If your battery has been disconnected lately, take it for a cruise ~60miles of so of no stop and go.. and you'll be okay. The computer has monitors which are incomplete. In order ot have them switch to "complete" you'll have to drive it a bit. Some cars can do this within 20miles, some takes forever.

mine did that too, and driving for another week daily, every day didnt fix it,

at first the dealer wanted to replace my ECU and when I told them to fuck off they ended up being able to reset it and it worked.

ya. had the same problem. ended up that specifically the 96 has a way of resetting itself so the ecu can never detect the drive cycle. heard the only way is to take it to a master mechanic. that was back then. now im ka-t since i figured ..hey..either way i wont pass

Same thing with my 96. I had done some work to get the MIL off and it took like two freakn weeks for the durned thing to finish its self-diagnostics and be ready for smog.
