question about lsd

Hey guys i just picked up a lsd in an r33 pumpkin w/ 5bolt axels. I searched but didn't find what I was looking for.

i was told that it was a 1.5 way lsd and I have a couple questions.

1. is it normal for both sides to be locked together when spinning one side gently?

2. when i try to make both sides rotate at different speeds, i hafta really work it. (no fluid in the diff yet, its not installed).

3. is it normal for the output shafts to pop out if i pull it and spin it a certain way? i know it doesnt bolt into the differential, but I was wondering if its normal for it sometimes pop out.

thanks guys, any help would be greatly appreciated. I just wanted to make sure before i install the diff because I've gone through 4 differentials so far this year and I'm getting sick of swapping them out.

Also, i was told that 75-90 GL-5 gear oil would be appropriate for the lsd. any suggestions?

thanks again guys/gals

Some lsd's require certain fluid, if thats what it needs then possibly; Clutch types can be annoying like that. Everything else sounds right though.Maybe you should pay to have this one installed. 4 differentials?.....

well i can do the swap no biggie, its just annoying. 4 diffs: 1 open, 2 welded, now this lsd.

As for the outputs coming out, they are only held in my little snap rings inside the diff. If the rings busted or got loose then that might be your problem. I cant tell you for sure, but looking at it from a mechanical viewpoint, even if the snap rings are gone, and the outputs come out without much force, it should be fine, because they will be bolted into the axels anyways. I wouldnt worry about it.
