e-fans/themp sensor

well i just got 2 10in electric fans off ebay. They are susposed to pull 2200CFM and they are going on a stock radiator for now. Hopefully they work in this 100 degree heat. But my question is how are you mounting the prob for the temp. switch in the hose with out it leaking out once it builds up pressure? Ive seen people just push it into the radiator between the fins but i dont like that idea at all and dont see how it will work good. then ive seen people pull the cap off and just stick it in that away. Or does anybody know of a better idea?

Just wire it up so it runs when the car runs... no one really likes aftermarket temperature sensor setups.

yeah tha'd be awesome when it's 50 degrees out...
just stick the bulb inside the upper rad hose. There should be a little rubber peice that slips between the temp tube and the rad. outlet. It will seal it good enough to prevent leaks. Just remember to not tighten the rad. hose clamp too much as it will crush the hollow tube

wtf....I run a fan at all times when my car is on. I ran it all winter long(below zero). I don't have any problems what so ever. So i would say just have it run all the time.

At High Road Speeds (over 35mph) Having The Fan On Is A Waste Of Energy, And Actually 'chops' The Air Preventing Proper Air Flow. I Would Either Thread The Sender Into The Head Or Tap It Somewhere In The Upper Radiator Hose Like Recommended.

My e-fan is on a switch, I turn it on after the car warms up and don't turn it off until I cut the car off.

how is the fan gonna chop the air?? it spins with the rushing air anyways. Once it is past the radiator why does it matter what happens to the air. If your worried about it pull the weather stripping from under the hood and raise the back up a bit. It will give the air a place to go after the radiator/intercooler.

How Is The Fan Going To Chop The Air? Easy.... Air Under Pressure Moves In A Certain Speed And Direction With A Fan That Is Not Spinning As Fast As The Air Is Moving It Will Push Some Air Back Into The Radiator While It Lets Some Out. The Air That Gets Pushed Back Into The Radiator Slows Air From Traveling Through The Radiator At Certain Spots Creating Heat Voids. Its Common Knowledge.... Which Is Why All Factory Electric Fans Switch From On To Off At A Certain Temperature, Which Under A Well Operating Cooling System A Road Speed Of 35mph Or Greater Will Achieve.

You Can Run Fans Full-time But Liek I Said Your Just Wasting Energy And Reducing Your Fans Life Expectancy.

use the temperature sensor

i would just clip it to the rad

set the fan to come on at low temp; raise it till you find a good setting

or just use a manual switch and turn it on when you're stuck in traffic.

Arrow just did it

i just did the elec fan conversion this weekend. i used the hayden thermostat, probe is pushed through the fins right above the lower hose. the unit allows you to adjust when it turns on and off. i think there is 4 settings, each allowing the engine to get a little hotter before turning on and turn off a little hotter accordingly. very easy install and i love the thermostat. it turns off when im driving. actually only turns on after i have been stopped for a while, but it hasnt been hot lately. here is a quick picture. the temp never goes above what it did stock. i also have the ac wire(i dont have a/c) wired to a switch so i can override whenever i want. easy quick mod, didnt see any hp gains, but it seems to idle better, better low end pick up/throttle reponse, and the whole sound at idle a lot better at idle, til they kick on, then all you hear is the fans.
