its been about 13 months since ive had my 240 and the whole time the starter would make clicking noises till about the 10th try of turnning the key. at first i thought it was the starter so i got a new one and instantly it was clicking to. it did this for anout a week till the starter wouldnt work at all. so i get another sterter(thinking it just my bad luck , maybe i just got a defective one)put the new one in and the cycle starts all over again so i replace all battery cables get new relays and it still happens. so today i just got tired of it (was stuck infront of subway for about 10 min because the starter wouldnt work and everybody is asking me if i need help and stuff)well, i went to the store and bought a 5.oo push button starter switch hooked it up this morning and wala clicking noise is all gone and starter is working fine!!!

i have one wire going to the same terminal on the starter as the battery
the other wire has a fuse for safety and i have it going to the wire thats comming from the starter

i mounted my button under the dash(i have it where you cant see it unless your really looking for it)

it can still start the car with key turned off but i still turn it to the on pistion first.

it was a very easy "mod" to do
took about a hour to do it
im going to throw a toggle switch in there somewhere for thieft protection(like anyone would want my 240 )

my car is a auto

damn.. I wish you had figured this out about 6 months ago. I had the EXACT same problem on my 90' model, and nobody knew what the heck I was talking about.

Sweet.. Another resolution for one of the random anomolies that infect the older 240's...
