Right now, I'm getting the Tein coilovers in the group buy on zilvia.net. I know that when the 240 is lowered, it would need to get an alignment and possibly a camber kit, but when I asked around, some people say that a camber kit is not need because these are coilovers. Is that true? If so, why is that?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanx.

I had a huge deal about camber in my car.  If you drop your car, any way at all, your tires will tilt inward at the top.  And you need to fix it.  But most 240sx's are at the end of the stock adjustment slot anyway, so you gotta buy a camber correction kit.  It is a cam-shaped nut to move the slot out a little further.  And the better way is to get aftermarket control bars, with a much larger slot.
But people are saying since they're coilovers, you dont need it.  That is half correct.  You have to buy Pillow Mounts, and that will allow you to adjust your camber a little.  If you can't adjust it enough with the pillow mounts, you gotta get one of the two aforementioned parts.  And Pillow mounts are like $200+, and I don't know for how many.  And aftermarket camber correction kits are like $90, and control bars are like $240/pair.

The front can be corrected with eccentric bolts for the most part.  In the rear, you can do an adjustable upper control arm, or eccentric upper control arm bushings from whiteline.  I used the bushings, they worked great.  I lowered my ride height to five inchs from rocker to the ground and need to do bushings on the inner and outer part of the arm.

Here's what the bushings look like:

Thanx for the prompt replies.

The coilovers are coming with pillow mounts so depending on how much the mounts can change the camber, I may or may not need those camber correction kits? or should I just get them to be safe?

it would probably be a good idea to get them to be safe. I'm not sure if the Tein rear camber plates/pillowball mounts are adjustable; the fronts are, though.
Furthermore depending on how much you lower it, you may still need an adjustable upper control arm or bushings.

hey bbp how much correction do those bushings offer, and how many degrees are you off by without them?

with your tein coilovers you will be able to adjust the front camber fine.  the pillow ball mounts give you a large amount of play with the camber.  see how they slide back and forth.....

as for the back, there is no camber adjustment with the tein's, or any coilovers for that matter, so unless you lower it a lot the wear isnt even that bad on the rear.  but the way to adjust it is the bushings or the control arms.  bushings are sold at pdm racing for about $60 i think.
