Question Exhaust

I'm looking for an Exhaust for under 400 shipped... the ones i've been looking at are the ssauto, mr 3", and thats about it which between those would you guys say is better quality and if you guys have any suggestions/ comments about other exhuast please let me know because i'm getting to the point where i'm just gonna put down the money. I just need some input on whats good/ bad quality, best bargian, I already know ssauto is a good bargain but is there any others because i don't really feel that good about buying a ssauto for some reason. Thanks.

Jake.

The one thing that kinda holds me back from buying one of the ssauto's is that a n/a 240 w/out a resonater might be a little too loud, but i've never heard one before. if there were some sound clips i might be interested the one on the ssauto review thread doesn't work...

Can anyone second the ssautochrome for being a good exhaust?
It's just that both the mr and autochrome are gonna end up being the same price shipped, i guess the only real difference is the the looks and resonater i'm supposing the quality is about the same, it's not that bad on a n/a ka or a turbo ka? does the turboback package with the downpipe and cat make it any louder or about the same? Do most of the exhausts have the nice angle like the apexi n1? Thanks. all welcome to comment.
Jake.

or post in the WTB section.. and do some research..
OR go custom... I spent $50 on a catco cat, $25 on a friends used muffler and 250 for 3" turbo back piping with a resonator

Yea i know, i've done reasearch but all the choices makes me undecisive, lol. i would buy the megan racing 3" for the s14 except I don't like the fact of how short the tip is (hardly any space between bumper and tip), and the ss auto doesn't have a resonater and those are my 2 fave. so far.
Are there any others that look good, and has a resonater (for noise level issues) that are 400 shipped and under? thanks so far.
Jake.

Just buy it, you are in norcal. Don't think you will catch the same attention that us in socal recieve for having a shiny exhaust tip. Besides if your worried about sound so much, then don't get it. It's gonna be louder then stock, so get used to it. Buy it and brag about how great it sounds later. BTW the MR/SSA have a resonator on them, and an exhaust tip silencer, if you want hush then use the silencer.

The SSA have a Resonator (the single n1)? The only place to get the ssa is at there website? Will the ssa be much louder with the turbo back package than with the stock downpipe/cat? Also where are the people on the ssac getting their exhaust for so cheep? there like 350 shipped now at their site and they were getting them for like 235 shipped and stuff...

i bought my SSA for 220 shipped. got a deal. but its a good exhaust, looks good, sounds good and not overly loud on n/a KA. IMO the MR has way too long of a tip and i'm not too fond of the strait exit.

sorry for the shameless plug of my car, but it gives a general idea for you

Sounds like our suggestions are falling on dead ears. You're like hell bent on getting the Megan, or the SSA. So why bother asking for other suggestions, if you want one of the 2?

F**K the exhaust system its a waste of money!!!!!!!!!! All you are paying for is just the damn name, Go out and order or buy a universal muffler HKS,BLITZ,Apexi,JIC, choose either NA size or Turbo size. Visit a muffler shop and tell them what you want, it will all depend what size muffler you got and thats it. the job will probably be 50.00 bux and thats it just sum up the whole cost and depending what universal muffler you got this custom exhaust outta come out to 300.00.

I'm guessing this is for the s13 your talking about becuase i think ssauto place on ebay sells the cheepest but they don't have the n1 single for sale there for the s14 which is what i need... I'll be paying like 330 shipped for the s14 one, seems like a huge diff. to me... and if i get the turboback i'll be paying 480 about... Whats the deal? Thanks for all the replies so far.

Why has this thread gone on so long for a "what kind of exhaust" question?

Look, your "cheap" options are... BUY the SSA or MR exhaust, don't like how it sounds? tough, you want better quality, spend more money.
OR buy the muffler you want, a high-flow cat, and have a muffler shop do the rest. Either way you take chances of it sounding like shit. If you want to assure it sounds good, SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY!!
END OF THREAD...

For $483 you might as well go name brand. The whole point of buying SSA is to save money, and you're not saving much at that price:

Try to avoid the SSA exhaust. I bought their turbo-back exhaust for an S13 SR20 for $334.83 shipped. It included a turbo outlet, downpipe, cat delete, and catback. The quality was great, perfect bends, perfect welds, thick flanges, polished pipes, and thick welds on the hangers. Then i got around to installing it and i wasn't as impressed. First off, the outlet is a universal for a T25/T28 so one of the bolt holes is really big and it doesn't provide a lot of sealing surface. The downpipe would not fit and i had to bang in the floor pan and use a lot of heat wrap. The hanger that bolts to the rear of the trans mount was like a foot off. I don't even know why they included the cat delete muffler (its a glasspack that looks like a cat), since the downpipe was so long that it bolted dirrectly into the catback. The catback is perfect though. As far as noise, its a 3" stainless straightpipe from the turbo outlet to the tailpipe so you can imagine how bad it is. Definitely not something that can be used on the street without immediately getting pulled over. If you want this for track use of w/e, go for it. You will need to install a piece of flex-tubing in the downpipe to make it clear the floor pan, and there will be no room for a cat.

Buy a name brand downpipe, cat, a couple mufflers off summit and have an exhaust made. Or a complete name brand exhaust. MR might be better, but i have no experience with those.

i agree with someone up there ^...you buy ssac to save money...if your gonna be dishing out 350+, you might as well buy an 65mm hks hipower...yes the ssac angles like the N1 and im 99.99% sure that it doesnt come with a resonator...

Hah! No, there is no resonator. The SSA exhaust system does not muffle at all - it just projects the noise to the rear of the car. Don't cheap out on the exhaust outlet and downpipe. The cat delete, and cat-back section can be SSA as those seem like high quality components and had proper fitment.

yeah basically what shift_knob said...dont cheap out on your exhaust, it maybe a little bit more money but it will be a bigger payoff when it is on your car

you can get and apexi or hks for alittle over 500
