Any one tried Steering Wheel Eliminator Bushing?
I am wondering how aluminium Steering Bushing Eliminator would improve the mundane handling feel of the stock 240sx.

I did find a few postings about it with some imaginations and anticipations though... If any one has tried this, please let me know what difference these brough to you. |

I put one in, but at the same time I put in solid mounts, nismo tranny mount, and poly bushings... so I'd say that contributed to the overall steering and handling feel on a car 16 years old. But through the wheel, it feels like there is alot less play in it before the car starts to react. IE if you had a 16th or and 8th of an inch travel it will mostly be gone... I think it is a good investment.

I was mildy confused when doing my SR swap because I don't have anything like that on my steering colum. Just one U-joint halfway down, but it's your standard U-joint no rubber to be found. 89 SE, is that not something that came on everycar or am I just blessed?

This bushing, after being installed, may transfer more vibration from the road. But so would installing coilovers, solid bushings in your suspension arms, and so would going to a larger diameter wheel and lower profile tires.
However, the trade off is probably worth more than the slight bit of vibration that you'll feel through that bushing, but it's up to you, since you're the only one that knows if it's for you or not. |

How easy is it to install this bushing, are there any write up's on this? b/c i got one sitting in my room for awhile now.

Jspec.com says you need to pull the motor... I'm not too clear on the install though. Somebody must know

might have to pull a motor on a US spec car. But it's even difficult on a JDM car where we have more room to work. The bolts are a PITA, mostly cause they've been on there since manufacture and have never come off. I've also notice, working on cars and aircraft, that any bolt that's surrounded by rubber and doesn't move for a long time tend to get stuck pretty good. Even if there's no corrosion on the bolt or nut. But these are a great mod. It felt like I was in more control at steeper angles after I put this in as a solitary mod. Still got stock mounts and tie rods/ends. It in itself is a great mod for the dollar.

not all s13s ahve that bushing, check to make sure you have it before you buy the solid one

All s chassis i have seen have the steering shaft damper bushing.
The best way as mentioned is with the engine out. The second best is to do this. 1. Remove under dash cover. 2. Drop steering column. 3. unplug wiring. 4. unbolt firewall to steering shaft bracket. 5. jack up car 6. place jack stands under the frame. 7. go under and remove the steering shaft to rack coupler. 8. pull out whole steering shaft. 9. install the bushings, and reinstall. Hope this helps ya.
