having an intercooler like that increases the internal flow area so it has lower pressure loss.

hella short tubes > fewer long tubes

Yeah seriously, I don't see why that's so special... Yeah, it's custom, but it's better... I mean, are you trying to make fun of the guy (directed to thread starter) or giving him props?

Well I guess if you want proof...

Straight outta Corky Bell's book.

That's why I bought this. I wanted something different and because Corky Bell owns me.

Now I SUGGEST thgat you add some details IN TEXT about that intercooler, such as brand, any other specifications, where it came from before I decide to merge your first post into the picture thread and delete every other one in this thread.

^^Matter of opinion. I think it looks pretty nice. I'd paint it black just like any other FMIC I plan on getting though.

my friend with a dsm has it like that.. but for the 240sx which covers the entire front.. looks like a radiator. It might be good for a sleeper type thing

Nah I think it looks more like this

The reason I did this was I'm just trying different things; plus I follow Corky's book like if it was the bible.

Wonder if anyone noticed that little radiator thing behind the intercooler (and in front of the stock radiator).

Yeah, I noticed that too, is this car an automatic, or is that cooling something other than an automatic transmission?

Nope. Oil cooler.

Setrab unit i got off eBay a while ago, and a PermaCool oil relocation kit (also off eBay). Oil cooler is: 11" x 7.5" x 1.75"

And yes, it goes: Engine -> Oil cooler -> Filter -> Engine
I wanted Engine -> Filter -> Cooler -> Engine but for some reason it wasn't feasable (I forget).

Well, typical intercoolers w/ horizontal tubes are generally taller than 6 inches. You also have the airflow making to 90* turns in the intercooler. I'm not saying that horizontal tubes are better, I just want to point out that this intercooler probably isn't 4 times better than typical intercoolers, as your math suggests.

i'm not saying that since the flow area is 4 times greater, the intercooler is 4 times better. of course the 90º bends and long distance the air has to travel across the length of the core before it even gets to the far end will reduce its performance.

The oil cooler has -10AN male ends. I ended up getting -10AN FEMALE to 3/8" MALE Earl fittings (the blue fittings you see).

The rest of the bronze fittings are just male and female 3/8" fittings from Home Depot.

I know you weren't suggesting that, I just thought I would add a clarification for others who might glance at your numbers and assume that this intercooler is four times better.

I wonder if I can still utilize the bumper reinforcement with this IC core. I noticed your BOV is on the cold pipe, notice any difference compared to being on the hot pipe?

edit: where did you buy that IC core?

damn physics for being counterintuitive. I would think that more tubes = more pressure loss
