coilovers/springs for the s13 vert?

i have been looking and have noticed some companies list a (exc. convertable) label and others dont. any idea whats different? besides maybe spring rate? and will 89-94 s13 springs and or coilovers work? any answers would rule.. i wanna slam this thing to the ground.
