national 240sx convention

Remember how there was goin to be a national 240sx convention over in vegas? well that was a year or 2 back i tihnk but yea i was wondering if anyone knos if there ever will be one again? I heard it was pretty cool a long time before i even got my car and wanted to kno if they will have one since 240's and drifting are so big. just somethin that came to my mind.

There will never be another 240SX Convention, and none as good as the 2K2 one in SoCal.

Or nowhere at all, it would become this large pissing contest about where to have it, then completely unrealistic for people with jobs to actually leave where they live and go there for any period of time, especially driving a 240SX across country.
My opinion is that no one should attempt another "national" convention. A regional convention, at best, will be where you expect the best turnout.

What's wrong with a 240 driving a great amount of distance? I don't see any problems with mine that would stop me. IF it was during the summer, I'd get a bunch of 240s and caravan across country.

My longest trip ever in the 240 was NJ > VA and back, but I could've easily done much longer. Just prep her nicely before the trip.

Personally I'd say we should have it in the middle of the US, minimizing trips for all. As far as regional meets, maybe like an entire east coast or entire west coast meet would make sense.

heh we should have a big cali meet since 25%+ ppl here are from cali. Meet up in socal or norcal and have it be a 3 day thing. too bad it wont happen. no one wants to take initiative and host this :C

lets have a drive from norcal to socal and spend the weekend there goin to superautobacs, magic mountain, jspec, phase2, irwindale or california speedway during a drift event and a whole bunch of other stuff down tehre.

^^^ Which is why I say have regional meets ONLY, not clinging to the dream of calling it or ever actually succeeding in a national meet, because I will be damned if I drive all the fucking way to California to wade through 500 people I have met online and do not like, just to chill with maybe 10-15 I actually do, and I sincerely doubt that more than 2-3 brave, idiotic and unemployed souls on the east coast would.

and thats why there was never a repeat of the 02 convension in 03,04 and 05..

If youve ever been to a drift event, youve been to a 240 convention. Thats the best you can hope for.

errr i guess I could try to host a meet but i need someone to help me out. Someone from socal thats willing to work with me on this would be great so we can make contact and see whats available to do down there and work things out. So far ive been thinkin about this regional meet and it sounds pretty interesting BUT ive been considering the pros and cons.

Norcal:
Pros
-easy cops
-san francisco
Cons
-not much to do in norcal
-less 240s compared to socal

Socal:
Pros
-more 240s around
-several places to hang out.
(downtown LA, san diego, magic mountain if its still open)
-lots of shops to check out

Cons
-cops around LA area sound to be douches
(i was from west covina//city of industry area and they hella harassed me)
*cant think of anything bad cuz i dont hang out there alot


So i had in mind that we should have a 3 day meet from Friday - Sunday. Having it around a drift event or car show or theme park day would be good. But i dont kno whats goin on down there at the moment so this is just in a broad view right now. Probably have this big event during the beginning of summer when everyone gets out of school. I guess we could pool a whole bunch of money for dinner, the event that will be happening, hotel room, and yea. From what it sounds like, several ppl are interested to do this but we all know that ppl will ditch at the last moment. But iuno cuz since this is a regional event it might actually happen.

But yea let me kno your feedback on what we should do, when we should do it, and if youre interested.

im assuming u didnt go to the norcal meet last year over at the great mall. there were easily over 50+ cars whereas a drift event is as low as 5 ppl - 40.

Seriously though 2002 was dope. Yes actually a lot of east coasters came out . A lot of them flew out. Thing is between 2002-2003 the 240sx scene started to change. First they tried to put a convention together in the Atlanta area and it kinda fell through then the tried to do a Vegas convention. Fact is true socal has the highest concentration of 240's in the country. In fact I think stastically they sold more of the cars here overall. Suffice to say a Cali meet would be cool
just no Salinas Valley action. How about Laguna Seca. See that would be the dope ass place to have it. Then we could all invade Monterey and Carmel hahahhahahha.
