![]() Crap this sucks. I overtightened my oil feed for the turbo on my SR and COMPLETELY stripped out the threads in the block. I dunno if a helicoil willl work or not but I can't seem to find one locally the correct size (12mmx1.25). I highly doubt a standard rethreader will work because its pretty severe. Please give me some suggestions!

Don't worry I did the same thing a while back to a car I was working on. Just get a tap and dye set and tap it. it will re-thread the hole and make it usable again.

HA HA, been there done that go buy 1 size bigger like metric 14 * 1.25 to dash 4 an fitting, then get a tap for that size, if you dip the tap in lithium grease before you start taping, most of the metall shavings will get caught in the grease on the tap, then all you have to do is clean it out real good, i used an old rag dipped in lithium grease , the metal gets stuck in the grease , and its easier to clean out, now here is the important part, the screw that goes in there stock has a small hole that calibrates the oil pressure you need to find a drill bit that is the same measurement, and weld one end of the fitting then you must drill the hole thru it so it will send out the same oil pressuer to it, now you have to get 2 more things a 12 - 14 inch 4 an stanless line, and the fitting for the turbo.
all in all this cost me 42.00 but mostly because of the 14.00 dollar tap i had to use to make the thread. The reason i did this was because i was taking the turbo on and off a lot and those stuppid metal lines are a bish, not to mention i stripped the thread on the oil feed ,next time i take off the turbo ill do the water feed line, now ill never ever have to worry again. and the fitting that goes in to the block is permantly there because when you take off the turbo you just unscrew the stainless line .

Whew, finally fixed it
Thanks for the help everybody. What me and my buddy ended up doing was drilling it out and tapping it to 5/8' npt. Then drilled and tapped a 5/8" npt plug with a 12m 1.25 hole. Loctited the plug into the block and then bolted the fitting up like before. Whew I thought I was screwed but it came out all good...

hate to bring this back from the dead but i have the same problem!
my issue is i cant get a drill up in there...i tried using teflon sealant since it still screws in...just dosent hold torque...after like 10 lbs it just pops back...i take it that this is bad i have a helicoil kit but since i cant get a drill back there i'm thinking i might just tap it for the next size up w/o drilling (should be ok right?) and then making a stainless line myself...can anyone help me source the parts and figure out the sizes? i have a T25 and the stock hole in the block is M12 (oil feed i think) |

I didn't want to bring this back but i had to. I am having the same problem. The bolt that goes into the block got crossthreaded and doesn't hold pressure. Is it able to be retapped or could someone please help me with some tips on how to fix it. I do have access to taps and helicoils but i have to wait till monday until i can get access to them.

go to speicalty tool supply, like for machinests,
get a short drillbit the size u need to put in a helicoil did this 3yrs ago to my block. aslo get teflon washers to help seal everything nice n tight
