Code 13 'Fixed', Simptoms Still Present

Sorry for the long read...

Code 13: Coolant Temperature Sensor Circuit

Symptoms: My car ('91) is running horribly. It sounds like it misses (small pops) at idle and when I shift. Theres a lack of power. My engine fluctuates at idle and causes the whole car to vibrate.

What I've done: I re-gapped the plugs and played with the timing. I checked for codes and it read code 13: coolant temp. sensor circuit (no CEL though). I check my FSM and it says test sensor for continuity. The reading is higher then listed in ohms so I figure theres too much resistance. I test the voltage on the connector, FSM says ABOUT 5V, my connector reads 4.85V. Close enough. Voltage and ground are not a problem. I remove the sensor and install one out of a '95 manifold. I clear the codes and start the motor. It still runs like it did but the code is gone. The ECU now reads code 55 which is all clear.

The engine still sounds like its missing but theres no code with this sensor, or CEL for that matter. It started doing this within the day or so. Please help.

Well, my stepdad took my car to the gas station since I had his truck and he said that ALL the dummy lights were on (seatbelt, oil, CEL, fuel, etc.) and the gauge cluster lights were really dim. The car ran like crap, bogging tremendously (felt like slipping clutch which it is and a total lack of power) which is why I took the truck. When I got home, the dummy lights were out like normal but the car still ran rough. I don't know why the car suddenly has something wrong with it. Anyone else know of anything? All I keep getting is code 13.

But why would that trip the coolant code and not the MAFS code?

Why does the code say circuit? Isn't that electrical and not the sensor?

13 is Coolant temp sensor, even on the SOHC. 14 is the vehicle speed sensor.

I bought a new sensor which was $18.22 and they had it in stock. I'll install tomorrow and see if that fixes it. Thanks guys.
