my fun trip home

yep, raced around thunderhill all day, then it was time to go home. after we all ate at denny's, i took off with george as my passenger and howard following me in his car.

40 miles out of willows, my aftermarket gauges suddenly started reading 0, then the gauge cluster and headlights gradually dimmed enough so i couldn't see anything, and my car was running like shit. so i pulled off the freeway to see wtf was going on. howard though i was joking and george thought we were dying (cuz he was asleep as i crossed the rumble strip).

after some investigating and phone calls, we decided the alternator was bad and my car had been running on battery power alone. we called up anthony, who had rented a trailer and took another broken car home already. anthony agreed to come back and get my car too. hooray. soon enough, luke pulled up behind us to chill while we waited. a couple hours later, anthony showed up and we were on our way back to luke's house. hooray.

then one exit before luke's house, stopped to get some diesel, and anthony ran over this dustpan in the middle of the gas station driveway. there was another guy getting gas who was blocking the diesel pump, and he didn't like it that anthony didn't care about running over the dustpan, so he deliberately did everything very slowly to hold us up. anthony got impatient and asked how long he was gonna be. then the guy started talkin about the dustpan and this and that and who cares. then he called the police on us. the police came and told anthony it's common courtesy to wait for people to finish at the gas station...nothing about running over dustpans. so we finally got our diesel and left.

now i'm borrowing howard's E320. nice car btw.

i got to sleep around 4am, and was at work by 8:30. hooray.

thanks anthony for picking me up, thanks howard for letting me borrow you car, thanks luke for stopping to chill, thanks guy at the gas station for being a douchebag and calling the cops on us.

Damn dude, that sucks about your alternator.

That happened to me while I was driving my gf's old car, a 1g DSM, and I ended up replacing the alternator from Autozone, 3 times, to finally get one that worked well.

Hope you dont get shitty alternators when you go to replace your's.

Scott from Lazy Penguin (Falkon 240) brought his car in like 5 million times for the alternator that he bought @ kragen. He said it's a lifetime warranty and it's cheaper. The alternator i get is only 1 year warranty and is twice the price, but you will probably never have to pull it out again. He payed me more in labor than he saved on the alternator.

I know that, but at the time we didn't have a whole lot of money to be using on an alternator, and the local DSM god so to speak recommended we just get one from Autozone.

Whatever, I'm done with DSMs haha.

Just going to nab an SR alternator when I have a chance and have that rebuilt, so when my current one takes a dump I can just swap it in.

the entire dustpan thing has me confused? whas the man pumping gas engulfed in a cloud of dust?? or was the dustpan broken upon being run over?? if so, was it his dustpan? is that why he was angry? you got me with this dust pan thing.

it was an empty dustpan just standing in the driveway. it did break when anthony ran over it, but it in no way affected the guy. i'm sure he was angry because of lack of respect for other people's property, even though it was left in a stupid place. it was going to get run over sooner or later anyway by someone coming from the other direction who wouldn't be able to see it until it was too late.

the dustpan shouldn't have been there
anthony shouldn't have run over it
the guy shouldn't have gotten so pissed off
the cops shouldn't have come. they were actually more hard on the guy than they were to us, cuz it was he who wasted their time.

whatever
