s13 how do you check for oil pressure?

when i turn the engine on in the morning, it takes longer for the oil check light to go off. yesterday i had a canyon run, and today when i turned engine on, it almost took 8 sec's for the oil check light to turn off...

ive heard that if oil pressure is low the tensioners that keep the timing chain tight are operated by oil pressure so if your oil pressure is low then the tensioner will not be working properly hence your chain will flap around and hit the guides.

would oil starvation be resolved with a new oil pan? and how do i check for oil pressure? nevertheless even know that its the oil pressure.

Oil pan won't do anything unless your current one is dented in. A new oil pump will fix any low pressure problems if the drive gear is worn or damaged, but you'll need to check it with a true gauge right at the sender to verify pressure. After that, check the tensioners for excess wear/play.

you need to get an oil pressure gauge and test it while the cars running. 11-15 is normal for warm at idle, and it progressively goes up as your revs go up.
