Removing ABS

Hey everyone. My friend needs a new master cylinder and calipers (mc leaks, caliper froze up), but has ABS. I have a non-ABS parts car. So, rather than him buying from the dealership/parts people, we think bypassing ABS is the way to go.
I just don't know exactly what's required to do. I'm thinking remove the ABS box, replace all the hardlines, and the calipers. Is this correct/incorrect? Any downsides to removing ABS? He lives in Michigan, and I personally stop a car faster without ABS using threshold braking than the ABS does. And.. when sliding in snow, the ABS never locks up.. it keeps modulating, which slows the car down more slowly. So don't tell me ABS rocks please. I'm looking for mechanical or electrical reasons that removing the box and replacing lines/calipers/master cylinder will/won't work.
-Jeff

i think thats all you need, non abs brake MC, and the non abs hard lines and your set. I just got them from a junk yard, not gonna swap them out until i do a swap (easier to change brake hard lines with motor out)

All he needs is the MC. Calipers can swap over from the non-ABS car. Buy the MC versus swapping and bypassing the ABS unless he really doesn't want it. There's two ABS master cylinders here locally at Z Car Atlanta, 770.446.1090, buy one of those for $50 shipped and it's fixed.

If you really want to ditch the ABS, swap the MC and hardlines, then remove the actuator and control unit.

i think you need to swap the abs brake booster, i am actually about to do the same project, i've figured all you need is the MC, Booster, Hardlines, and the proportioning valve... im pretty sure the non abd has a smaller booster...

ABS brake booster is bigger, however you dont need to sswap it out. I did this swap. ABS unit was faulty and leaked. All you need is the master cylindar, and the hard lines. No need to change the calipers. Remove the ABS unit as well. Saves like 25lbs. and a lot of space. You need all the hard lines, both front and the 1 rear.
Thats it.

Technically yes, the control unit will just see a fault and go into safe mode, but if you really don't plan on using it you can easily save 25lbs and pull it. Dealer hardlines are pretty cheap and you only need the three shorter ones on the firewall.
