Clutch noise/squeal

Ok, I did a ton of searching (here and sr20forum). I just wan't some confirmation from people. I have been getting a light grinding noise when ever I push the pedal down. Accidentally slipped the clutch a little hard last night and now it is a LOUD squeal/scrape sound from the bell housing. Whenever I engage and disengage the clutch I smell burning clutch, so it is obviously not disengaging totally. There is now about 1" of slop at the very top of the pedal range, it wasn't there before last night. No leaks at either slave or master cylinders. My question is could it be anything other then the TO bearing? the car is a redtop s13, exedy stage 2, and I removed the "box" from the clutch line. Any input? THANKS!!

Either way you're going to have to pull the tranny to fix it. Take it off, see what's broken and replace.

definitely sounds like a t/o bearing to me. however, t/o bearing doesnt usually cause a slipping clutch or slop in the hydraulics... at least not in my experience. what it does do is grind a groove into your pressure plate teeth. so you need a new t/o and pressure plate at least.

if you want to be absolutely sure you'll be able to get it all done in one sitting, just do the full clutch job. have a flywheel ready to go (so you dont have to leave the car sitting when you take it to get resurfaced). bring spare slave cylinder, clutch line and maybe even a spare clutch fork. dont forget brake and tranny fluid.

Well what if you buy the wrong thing, and then you've spent money on something you don't need.

Did you check the pedal assembly itself? Maybe the pedal is coming off the mount and causing you not to disengage it entirely.

I had a similar problem with my old S14 on 2 occasions:
1. Pressure plate died a violent death, 2 fingers were broken off of it
2. The "fork" thingy holding the TO bearing died an even more violent death.

... stock clutches suck.

TO bearing is on the way from courtesy. I'm going to hope that is all I need? Very 'eggs in one basket' approach! Thanks for all the input
