changing output shafts? one is stuck...

i keep reading that the shafts should come out with a slight tap. but then when i go to the mechanics, they all say you have to take the diff apart to even touch the outputshafts?

i bought an s13 vlsd, and i got one of the shafts out with out any problems, but the other side isn't coming out... what can i do?

what i have done so far: empty fluid, open back case, clean interior and exterior, close and seal case, remove 1 output shaft...

that is all i have done... i need help taking the last one out...

on soome cars you need to disassemble the diff, not ours. Stick a prybar in there (between case & flange, not inside diff) and force the thing out. Might want to have some new seals handy.

I used a slide hammer. It took about 15 minutes of continuous effort, but it eventually came out.

Piece of wood on the flange and a big hammer. Comes out easy every time.

Two brake disc rotors works like a charm, lay one inclined againt the inner side of output shaft and the diff body then wack the top of it with the other rotors and it'll come off easy.
