well i actually bought a 240 after months of looking.  i bought it on ebay though and i have never seen it in real life, but oh well it was only 1625.  it has alot of miles though...177000, hmmm i hope it turns out ok.  check it out.

hell, nobody says u have to commit even though u won.  U can just neer pay for it and I think the only thing E-bay would do is suspend u or give u a bad comment.  That all depends on if u really want it or not.
The shit is, what if there are many problems like timing chain, clutch, tranmission, or somethign else.  I dont know, I wouldnt buy something soooo important like a car without seeing it first in real life.

dude.. dont mean to be rude.. but i have to go with 240sxspeedracer1! tell me.. how you gonna buy a car without looking at it for real? i mean.. for all you know it could be allll fuc*ed up inside.. smell like piss... and run like a scooter! especially with over 170k miles on it! since its got hubcaps and not alloys.. i'd say 89 or 90 right? SOHC.. u paid too much $$$ for it! you're prob gonna swap the engine rite? but even so.. it wuz too much $ for that car.. at least i think.. i may be wrong tough! but no matter what you bought a 240! thats a good thing! so peace!!!!!

Anyway.  Check the auction again.  I am pretty sure that all cars have to have escrow.  Basically, it is a third person that will hold the money while you look at the car.  If you don't want it, you don't take the car, and you get your money back.
And also, ebay will not do anything if there are things wrong with the car that you were not informed of.  Sure, caveat emptor, buyer beware, but also, ebay is all for safe selling and not ripping people off.  If he says it's mechanically sound, and the car starts up, and the mechanics sound... then there is a problem.  And I suggest before picking it up, always take a mechanic with you.  Call the town, and find a shop that will rent a guy for the day.  He'll inspect it nicely.  
Thats what I'd do.  And $1700 doesn't sound like too much.
