240 only hitting on 2 cylinders

ok, so the other day I put a new valve cover gasket on my sohc and all of a sudden the car is only running on two cylinders.... so im like wtf. My buddy thought maybe we damaged a spark plug wire but I went and bought new ones and its still running like total shit.... I also replaced the spark plugs and am just trying to figure out if maybe I have a spark plug wire on the wrong spot and what is the order I know the firing order is 1-3-4-2 but witch one is 1 3 4 and 2 on the distributor cap? anyhelp

Firing order on the KA24DE is 1 2 4 3.

edit: Sorry didn't see you have SOHC... you're correct on the firing order for SOHC. #1 is usually in 9-10 oclock position then rotate clockwise from there (#1-#3-#4-#2). Might try downloading a FSM if you don't have one already (link in sig)

Also check to see if the spack plugs tips arent crushed togather, it wont spark without a gap, or to much gap.

Yeah, check and see if your injectors are ticking with a screw driver and put your ear up to the handle. SOHCs can have injector problems.

someone please help, I cant seem to get it right it was running just like total shit... and now its not running at all it cranks and trys to start but nothing, I gapped them correct when I put them in the first time, and I dont think the injectors would go bad while just swapping a gasket for the valve cover.... it has to be that I have the order wrong and I cant figure it out worth ****....

Did you pull the distributor out when you changed the gasket? If you did and didnt reset the timing, this could be why.

I didnt pull the distributor out at all and it appears to be in good condition, it worked perfect before the valve cover gasket was changed I had put over 200 miles on the car in like 2 days and it was doing great... but now all of a sudden its not running very well and making me pretty pissed....

From the frunt of the motor, the fireing order is , #1 funt of motor, #2next #3 next, #4 last, your distributor is: #1 is at ''9''oclock,#2 is at ''12''o clock,#4 is at ''3''o clock, #3 is ''6'' o clock
Check the inside of the distributor cap for cracks, if you hit it, or bumped it hard enough, you could have cracked it , and it will miss fire.
Good luck
