well i was washing and waxing "Kate" today (s14, ruby pearl, picts to come) and i noticed that the weight tag on my door says that she weighs around 3700 lbs not 2700 like everyone says...... so what's going on there? is there something that I don't know about reading the tags?

The actual weight of a 96 s14 is 2753 lbs according to edmunds.com, so you should be able to fit 4 200 pound people in your car plus a full tank of gas and a nice system.

The weight listed on that sticker IIRC is the cars total towing weight...Including its own.

The weight in the door jamb is the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.  It is used to show what the maximum weight of the car COULD be with fuel, a full load capacity in the trunk, and maximum passengers.  That's the max safe load you can carry.  So, if your car is 2700 lbs, and the GVWR is 3700...you can have up to 1000 lbs of payload.  So if you weigh 225 and you have 150 lbs of stereo equipment in the trunk, your girlfriend and your homies better not weigh more than 625 lbs combined...heheh.  But seriously, that's what that number means.

I am now confused, on my S13, it says GVWR is 2700, but I though a 90 coupe weighed something like 2689?

Whoa, hold up. How does Nissan expect me to fit 2 200 pounders in the back? I can fit my 135lb friend back there, but that is just 15 minutes to school.
