KA car wants to die when started

hey guys i got a little situation here. i got a 92 s13 and when i start up the car, especially when it is cold, the idle wants to drop to zero but i counter that with tapping the gas pedal a few times. when it's warm not so bad but still need to tap gas pedal at least once. other than that once the car is warmed up it doesn't do that so badly. at least i don't need to play gas pedal dancer. could that be my idle air control valve? i'm all open for input

It sounds that your idle is just low.

How high is your idle when your car is warm?

I remember on my old car I'd have to rev the motor a little when I cold started but after a minute or two all was fine.

Agreed on the low idle, Check for a tune up, fuel air filter, cap wire rotor, ect. Mabe check timing just to be sure.

my car idles at 700 rpm more or less which is according to others around where the normal idle is. as far as the tune up, i have done all of that already. the car has actually been doing that pretty much since i got it about 3 years ago

I'd ajust the idle up a bit and see how it runs.
