timing chain
did a search already but didnt come to conclusion on what to do with my cars chain. i got a 93 dohc with a lot of miles so dont kno if the timing chain was even touched. only today where the timing chain is, i heard a loud noise. it also has made a quiet noise where you cant hear it from the outside but wen i was parking today i heard it. ive read you can take out the guides and will make it better. i ve done a timing belt job on my 85 bmw before but not sure if its the same especially since there is 2 chains i believe?? ive found a thread on here about downloading the FSM or something but i couldnt download it. i think its a how-to. any suggestions on what i should do with my chain? any way i can check it without having to disasembly the whole front cause this is my only car i drive...

It's not the timing chain, it's the top timing chain guides.

the other one is right below the top tensioner but you can only see the top of it based on that article unless you take the bottom cover off. You can check its movement but sticking a big screwdriver or small prybar in there and moving it back and forth. Also when you move the top tensioner if everything is working correctly the bottom one moves a little, you can see it.
