Leaky Injector
![]() |
![]() Well i have been working on it off and on for a week or two and finally just got the majority of it done. I decided i didn't want my subs or an amp anymore, i dont even have a deck for crying out loud. I weighed my amp, subs, deck, box and wiring and it weighed out to well over 100lbs.The back seat and seat belt stuff weighed out to around 40lbs. So i decided to go with this set up. Which with the material and carpeting only weighs in at about 30 lbs. It still needs a little finish work. Where the spare tire well is i decided to make a compartment out of it. I put gray ozite carpet in there and it now holds the following: jumper cables, cig. lighter air compressor, mag lite, can of fix a flat, small cheap ratchet/socket set, screwdrivers, adjustable wrench, pliers, and plenty of zip ties and it still has room for other stuff. The battery is also hidden away in the back passenger side corner. Tell me what you guys think.

That is real clean man. Hopefully you can post up some how to pics or details on the setup. I was thinking of doing something just like that. But man, yours turned out better than what was even in my mind.

Looks very good. I have been debating doing the same, considering that S13 Rear Seats are as good as useless & I have Black Front Carpet, so it would/should come out just as well as yours did. I would also like to know the materials that you used. Very nice.

Yup I like it. I've done something similar in my last car, haven't put anything back in my coupe since I took the entire interior out.
+1 on the S13 rear seats being as good as useless... I'm curious what size/how much carpeting you used, and is that MDF for the floor of your hatch now?

Home Depot, or Lowes has this thin foam board with paper on the outside used for wall,a/c insulation. It's lite weight and I bet if you can make a template you can get it all out of one piece scoring the spots where it dips down etc and it will just fold, you don't even have to cut the board in pieces. Just glue the carpet to it and it should work out nice.
This one turned out awesome I like it a lot. I tried so many combos in the rear interior of my car but this idea is better than any I had. |

As far as the materials go i used the thinnest piece of MDF i could find. Its the same material you build floowing and sub boxes with but a little thinner. For the carpeting i used black ozite from walmart. It was 10$ a roll and i only used about 1.5. For adhesive i didn't feel like busting out the gun and mixing some glue so i used a can of 3m Super 70? spray adhesive. The actual hatch part was the easiest. I used the factory carpet for a template. There is a carpeted piece that covers the storage area and when its on you cant even tell theres a storage area. Also i cut out a fuel pump access door but carpeted over it. This way if i ever run into a fuel pump issue all i have to do is take a razor blade and slice around it and voila. Where the factory seats are was all just using cardboard templates and many hours of fitting and fidgeting for the tightest fit. Also before i did anything i gutted the back and removed the sound deadening and primed and painted it gloss black. The whole set up weighs in at a little under 30lbs. Its lighter than the factory set up and IMO for a street driven car looks alot cleaner than a normal gutted 240. All and all it cost me about 50$ and is lighter than factory. It was the alternative for getting the origin lab CF template. If you have any questions PM me or post it up. Thanks for the feedback!

So you actually clued the carpet directly onto the metal in the rear seat area?
