OBDII to OBDI conversion?

i've heard of people doing OBDII to OBDI conversions.. but I tried searching for good 20 min but couldn't find anything of that sort on this forum.

here's the story.. i drive a 98 240 "kouki".. and getting rid of all the ka-t parts (after i blew my motor).

i'm now planning on putting my motor back to stock.. and i mean everything.

a buddy of mine just pulled his motor (stock s13 dual cam ka setup) for an rb, and i planned on picking it up.

originally.. i was just going to use everything from the valve cover down to the oil pan and slap on the rest of my s14 ka items (intake manifold.. header/etc) but then it would kind of be a hassle i suppose.

a friend of mine then brought up the idea of OBDII to OBDI.. basically the idea of using EVERYTHING from the s13 ka setup.. from the engine harness to intake manifold/header/intake system/etc.

-now i'm wondering if / how it can be done?
-how should the engine harness be done? any re-wiring necessary? color matching?
-could i also use the same lower harness that i'm already running?

i mean.. yeah, it's easy to just throw in another ka (but finding a clean running one that i'd be satisfied with and for a decent price) sometimes becomes a hard thing nowadays.. but my friend has a ka with parts there for me already.. and maybe in the long run if i decide to do ka-t on my car again.. it'll be easier for me.

maybe this thread will help fill in those blanks for me.. as well as others wondering about this. if you decide to try and "flame" or talk shit about why i want to do this.. please just stay out. i just want this thread to be clean.. and full of useful information about doing what i asked.. "converting" my OBDII 98 240 ka to the OBDI system'd s13 ka.

It would be the same as swapping a S13 series redtop or black top into a 98. Search that, voila answers will abound.

^^^ john, i was the one that brought it up, and yeah that is because the KA that im talking about is one of those legendary "supper KA's" lol its a really nice set up. really strong motor friend had it in his car and it was hanging with my SR and beating it if I didn;t launch right. So yeah I assumed the same. As long as we use the whole S13 KA Harness, motor, sensors, it should be pretty simple to wire up to the 98. Am I correct.

You are correct.

Those freak KA's do exist. I had one that was guttless, but regularly rev'd to 8k+. It burnt oil like a mofo, but never blew.

Then some other guys KA I almost DIDNT swap because the thing pulled so hard, like wow wtf hard.

But yeah, treat it like a redtop swap, meaning you'll need all the parts from the ka s13 that you would need in the regular sr swap.

Go wanton!

wouldnt this bring up emmission issues? i would think that you would be unable to pass emissions with obd one in a car that is made obd 2

John just has a hard time admitting KA's are decent. So when he finds one in good shape, he calls it a freak occurence.
