what to put on pilot bushing? and a question about tranny fork clip

hey guys, sorry if i seem too careful/wutever with the questions but this is the second time i dropped the tranny this month and i want to get things done right. so any help would be appreciated. first, i heard that you have to put engine oil as lube on the pilot bearing, or can i just use regular grease that i use for input shaft and everything else? and second, what does this clip do and do i need it? it seems pretty easy to just fall out and bounce around in there.

also, i only put grease on the inside of the TOB carrier and none on the TOB itself correct?

thanks guys.
