Altima fans fitment question: w/ PICS

So I trimmed both bottom corners of the fans to allow them to sit between the frame rails as per Orion's pretty picture:

and NOW. Neither of the bottom pins are lined up. The one nearest the passenger side is about 1/2" away. But as you can see in the first pic, the fans are already up against the battery tray. The driver side pin is almost an inch away from the hole.

So I figure my options are:

1. Fuck it, who cares about the mounting pins, just use some radiator zipties and call it a fucking day.

2. Remove the battery box and shift those bitches over that 1/2" it needs.

If I go with option 2 I think I can get BOTH top screw holes to line up..

Here you can see how far off they are.

So what you think?

I'm saying that neither of the holes on the top or bottom line up.

Well, maybe 1 up top.

Yah, if I don't hear enough people say: move the battery tray.
I'm just gonna go to kragens tomorrow. haha

post pics if you got em!

Four radiator zipties and its holding up pretty good. Had it on my car since last year, hasn't failed me yet.

hey...i recently installed a set of the same fans. I had to cut off one of the two pins on the bottom and this allowed one of them (obviously) to fit in one of the holes. Other than that i pretty much had to cut off most of the edges on either side for it to fit nicely. i noticed u cut notches in the assembly. it may work out...but if all else fails just cut off as much from each side as possible without inhibiting the structure of the fans...then depending on how nice u want it to look u can figure out a way to make it stay mounted or just use zip ties in various locations...i myself just used zipties haha...overall it fits pretty decent considering all the trimming i did...and let me say it cools the car VERY well when needed. let me know if u need anymore help

for less work, then zipties. me personally i like having things bolted in and i would end up messing with the battery tray. it comes down to personal preference.

depending on what size altima fans u got there may be no way of lining up the holes or tabs...all there is to it...thats why i cut em off cept for one on the bottom...ive heard there are 3 differnt sizes...im assuming i have a large set because i had the same problem as u

So the answer is:

Leave it as is and just ziptie it up...

and then cut out the battery tray anyway. hahah

I like it.

you can trim the leading edge off the battery tray and not affect the battery mounting. I know zipties work fine, but I'm too damn picky to jank up my own car like that. If they really wouldn't reach without effort, I would build a new pair of brackets to line it up right. That halfass shit is fine if you don't care.

^i agree do it right! cut the battery tray out. BOLT it up, if ya cant get it to bolt up build brackets to get it to bolt up. Zipties are a great temporary solution..but they are good vacuum hose clamps.

When I installed them in my s13 I also notched the battery try enough for the fans to move far enough towards the right side of the car. The other option is to do like RDM suggested - make up a couple of new brackets.

Yeah I guess its cooler to go with the clean "OEM" look that way it looks like factory equipment in your engine bay. I like that.
But shit, I would probably zip tie it hahaha. I get lazy

Or, use a sawzall and just cut the outer edge that sticks past the frame rail off. It's more than enough to give you proper clearance.
