My clutch master cylinder had a crack in it about 3 days ago so i took it into my local auto mechanic, and he repaired it, and now the clutch feels like it is brand new. he also bled the system and re-filled it. Now that it feels like new it is very sensitive, i barely have to press it in past 1" before the thing is capable of switch gears, then i have a little tiny bit of room to cushion the clutch back to give it a gentle acceleration.
WHEN WILL THIS GO AWAY. How long of casual driving to and from school and work do you think that it will take to break in the clutch enough to be back to normal? and my other problem was once today I was driving up a hill and for some reason when i switched from 1st to 2nd gear i accelerated with the gas and let off the clutch and the gear wasnt catching...It fealt like it hadnt switched gears, and the car reved really high then about 2 seconds later the tach dropped back down to around 2k and accelerated like normal till i switched to another gear and it did the same thing. No pull just a high rev then wait 2 seconds and it would drop back down and catch and then it would start moving like normal. WTF IS HAPPENING?!! Is is something that they did at the mechanic? I am taking it back and having them look at it, but what do you guys think could be wrong? |

This is all to common. It cost me $500. I had my master/slave replaced by a good mechanic. He forgot to adjust the clutch pedal. Within 80 miles of driving, my clutch began to slip. There should be over an inch of play before the car switches gears, but not too much, or the clutch will not fully disengage.
Get it adjusted asap. You can do it your self. Adjust the nut on the shaft that the clutch pedal connects to so that you have to push the clutch in more before it takes the clutch out. Hope that helps. If not, the shop that installed your parts should do it for free, since they forgot. But don't drive to much or your clutch will be worn out, bad! Jeff

Good deal! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>
It took me a few times to adjust it right. I have been on a mission to tell everyone about this. I am still pissed I lost $500 to buy a new clutch because mine got worn down fast. Jeff

I am not sure if you adjust when a slave or a master cylinder is changed. You'll notice the clutch engaging really high if it needs to be adjusted. Jeff
