On the steering tid rod, I know there is a metal clip that is pinched onto the ball joint assembly and you need to remove that with a screwdriver and light hammer. But I can't really tell from the FSM how you remove the tie rod, do you unscrew the whole rod assembly from the steering rack??

The other thing I'm having problems removing is the lateral control arm. Not really in a sequence mood, i separated the tie rod from the spindle b/c when I first tried to remove the LCA bolt it wouldn't budge and started turning the wheels. Now that the rod is off, the whole assembly is turning while i attempt to unscrew the nut holding the LCA to the spindle. But if I reconnect the tie rod, I'm afraid I will damage the steering rack if I put too much pressure. Thats probobly what i'm going to end up doing and then placing a brick next to the passenger side wheel so it won't turn when I remove the bolt. Has anyone else done any of this before? I need some pointers or suggestions please!?

I was doing a mild drift at 20-30 mph off a busy road into a parking lot and hit a patch of salt or something. I was heading straight into a lamp post and if I hadn't gained some traction through manual ABS motions, I would be dead. I managed to turn the car about 45 degrees away from the curb and just hit the curb.
