Running really rich and bad idle
Ever since i put in my walbro fuel pump my car has been running extremly rich which makes sense with the fuel pump but any way to maybe lean it out a bit, i was thinking replace the o2 sensor but not sure if its going to change much. On start up its running about 10.1 and when driving it is always between 10.5-10.0, as well as on start up its shooting out carbon out the pipe.
Also the idling problem, when i turn car on even in normal weather the idle goes to about 1.5 than drops to .5 and jumps in between for a few minutes before it evens out, i have replaced my spark plugs, cleaned my idle air control and im running out of ideas so if you have any feed back please let me know. Thanks , also the engine is a s14 blacktop. |

I had the same problem as you, except I don't have my Walbro in. My first start of the day would be sucky, and the idle would drop and raise until it warmed up.
I would check the vac hose going from your fpr to your intake manifold .. Mine was dry rotted, when I replaced the line it got somewhat better, along with an idle adjust because my idle was pretty low anyways. I still need to recirculate my BOV, and change my brake booster lines so I won't die when coming to a stop. Not sure if any of this will help you, just a suggestion. I'm still alittle shady about installing my Walbro because of this. |

The next time when your car idles bad touch the wiring on the maf plug to see if it smooths out or dies out. I had the same problem with idling for over a while and everyone keeps telling me I had a boost leak because I was also running rich but come to find out the wiring to my maf was bad order a new plug from wiring specialities and had it installed and all my problems are gone. Try that it worked for me

dead FPR would create a lean situation.
You just have a boost leak somewhere (and / or a leaking BOV ), so fix that first. Try doing an ECU code check too, it will tell you if your O2 sensor has a problem. If stopping the leak does not stop the rich problem, the most common culprit is the engine temp sensor. |

my fpr is ancient its the stock on that came on the car, so after 120xxx km and 16 years it might be that i will check the hose to the intake manifold and my bov doesnt leak and mine is recirced. i will try the maf trick tonight or tomorrow and see how it goes, if not its o2 sensor or boost leak but i have a full new turbo kit thats going in on monday so if i still have the problem after that i will let you guys know, thanks for help
