s13 nismo 2way lsd clunking...

hello,
i recently purchased an used nismo 2way clutch type (mechanical) lsd for my s13. after install and break in, i initially encountered minor 'chatter', which consisted of light clunking noises. this sounded like metal to metal contact, almost sounds like as if my lug nuts weren't tightened. i was told this is normal, but then...

after about a month or two of street driving and one drift event, the clunking has progressively gotten louder and more violent. now it sounds like three guys with wooden baseball bats going full swing repeatedly at my subframe. this only happens at low throttle, coming out of parking spaces and such, or low throttle 2nd gear left turns.

anyway, i took it off my car, and noticed that my driver side side-output-flange slides in and out about 3mm or so. i took it to a shop and they told me this is normal, and its probably my driveshaft that's making the noise. i've tried everything from lsd additive, to re-break-in, to re-tightening every bolt that relates to the rear portion of the drivetrain.

my question is, does any one know if this is normal? is there anything else i could do to alleviate the noise? any know how the side output flange attaches to the lsd? (c clip, bolt, etc?)

thanks for reading, any help would be greatly appreciated!

happy head-scratching,
danny
