4x6 rear speaker removal
I've been redoing my stereo in my fastback. I just got in my headunit and just put in some 6 1/2 infinity components yesterday. Next is the 4x6 in the rear. How the crap do you get those speakers out? I can't even get a skrewdriver in there to loosen the screws cause the window is right above the speaker.

when i did it i took it off from the plastic, not the speaker itself. i found that to be easyer. it still is pretty hard though. you might wanna take off some of the rear interior plastic to give you better physical and visual access. sorry if its not too clear. hope that helps.

Have a swiss army knife? I folded mine at 90degress and it worked fine, you just have to unscrew 45degress at a time. It sucks. That or try using the liittle "bit" from a cordless screwdriver. Use pliers on the bit to get some torque.
I installed my 4x6 plates in the Best Buy parking lot with a swiss army knife. The fronts are not so easy, as you may have found out. Oh, pray you don't have "active" amped speakers. Jeff

I just put a small socket on my rachet (not sure what size) that my screw driver bits I use in my drills would fit into. Then I Just racheted those lil pos screws right out.
![]() EDIT: Ie. I left the plastic 'case' intact and just removed the speaker.

actually the front were very easy to put in. i just made a custom piece of wood and mounted the 6 1/2 and the tweeter on it, but i had a hard time finding a spot to the crossover and not let it rattle around.

go to sears and look for a tool that looks sorta like an alan wrench but has a screw driver end on it. That tool is more usefull than you can imagine.
