KA LIfters with new cams?

I have been getting all of my parts for a rebuild of a KA24DE-T. I was talking with my father and he was recommending that I get new lifters. Every thread I seen on camshafts, people only redid the shims, and or springs.

So you fellow Zilvians please tell me in detail concerning the lifters do they need to be replaced or is there just a point that the shims and buckets cant cover the wear down of the lifters.
