Turbo timer q's

Ok... i posted this before but w/o any luck. So i'll try again.

About a month ago i bought a Pivot Turbo Timer. Today i found out that there is no way the HKS harness will work with it. So basicly i need to figure out which wire is what and how do i go about splicing them in. Also, if someone has done hardcore splicing w/o harness, i'd need some instructions... or at least FSM page scans of the ignition setup... but that's not as important right now.

So first of all.... if someone has a Pivot TT instructions somewhere or knows the color coding... plz plz plz post here.

Now, here is what i have coming out and what i'm guessing from tts of other companies:
1. black - ground
2. red - power
3. green - ignition
4. yellow - second ignition (? someone tell me wtf this is)
5. orange - speed sensor (?)
6. blue - accessory (?)
7. grey
8. brown

One of these is supposed to be a parking brake safety feature, but i have no clue.... So any guesses on which one of these 8 is which (as i'm not sure on any single one except the black one) will be appreciated. Thanx

Im a newbie and dont have much room to make any mistakes right now.. so I will just ask you questions...

Why do you need a turbo tiimer???
Is it really that hard to leave the car running for 30 seconds - 5 minutes after a hard run???
Do you go under full boost down your street and into your drive way?

Hmmm... cuz if u really wonna go and take a **** quickly u don't want to wait.

I have a t3 50 which pretty much will hit boost at around 2800-3000 rpm <- that's the rpms u drive on the highway at. I live 2 minutes away from highway.

Now if seriosly, not like it really matters to me. I even have a watercooled turbo. it's just that i bought it, and i have it, and i don't want to sell it.

So back to the topic... anyone can help me out?

just checked an old radio i had lying around and the ignition (or "on" position) wire is yellow. That might confirm it being an ignition wire.

The blue wire I'm fairly sure will be the acc wire.

Anyways, if you hook it up to a 12V source and power it up, you can probably get it to work, and just not use the rest of the wires which are most likely just accessory/ security wires.

I'm guessing the reason you have 2 ignition wires is that one senses if the ignition is on, and the other powers the ignition once you shut the car off.

I wish someone would answer this because I have a Greddy TT that isn't hooked up yet due to the fact that I don't know the colors of the stupid wires under my steering column

Why don't you guys buy HKS ones that have harnesses that plug right in to your wiring haness? the unit itself costs like $80 and the harness is another $20. this is assuming you are willing to shop for good prices.

Cuz the tt i have right now cost me $30 shipped and does exact same thing as the HKS timer for $80 (+$20 for harness) that is retards ignition shut off?

Cmon guys, i know all my options that i have beyond this particular tt. So plz, post on the topic.

nrcooled: Try google... i think the ppl at rx7forums had a write up on it, so you can figure it out from there... i remember coming along a greddy right up when searching for my stuff.

I don't have a FSM only a Chilton's and it's not in there. So I have just sat on the TT install. Anyway I have found plenty of write ups for S14s but no S13s and the colors are definately different.

I decided to not install it untill I can get a firm answer on what colors are what. I also have a alarm installed which makes room for splicing and soddering a tad bit more difficult

hmmm... you could definitely trace the alarm wires then. A lot of the alarm wires are going to be the same colors and go to the same leads you need to tap. Did you install the alarm yourself?

Ok need to know this.... which are the ones i have to run to make it work? The hks (from what i understand) plugs in 3 into hte harness (power, ign, accessory) and lets you do whatever with parking break and the ground is seperate.... so does this theoretically mean i can make my timer work with just 4 wires and let the others stay out?

Oh and i also have an alarm... does that make my life easier?

these guys sell the pivot baby timer, try emailing/calling them and see if they can help you out.

nrcooled: I hard wired my timer in my 93 a few months ago. My FSM is wrong on the wire colors. I ended up probing everything with a meter. I wrote it down somewhere, I'll post if I find it. If not i'll climb under the dash in the next few days.

I was trying to avoid buying a multi-meter (trying to stop spending money on the car) but it's looking inevitable. If you could take a look that would be great but in the meanwhile I am going to pick up a multi-meter from Home Depot
