Why does Nismo stuff suck so bad?

Just been comparing a lot of nismo items throughout my years of collecting parts. And it has come to my conclusion that nismo products suck.

For the price of Nismo brand parts, the quality or item isn't great at all.

There are a few things that I look at when comparing performance parts:
1. Quality
2. Technology
3. Creativity

Many Nismo parts lack at least 2 of the three prerequsites.

Example: Take the s13 "NISMO" power brace, it's pretty much overstock s13 parts that "Nismo" weld a few plates on, paint a different color and slap the NISMO brand on it. It lacks the 3 characteristics I've listed above.

Example: Take the Nistune Suspension, it's pretty much KYB shocks with red painted springs.

Example: Nismo strut-bars are pretty much the same shit as the Nissan strut bar painted black. Why couldn't they make it larger or have some type of improvement instead of just color change. Weak.

I can go on and on for all the other Nismo crap.

What do you guys think about Nismo?

Ah I think you are either blind or need eyeglasses. A Nismo Powerbrace is not a stock S13 item. take a look underneath your stock car. Your TC rod mounting brackets are not boxed in . On the Powerbrace they are. you also do not have a rod across them stock. You do on the Powerbrace. You are paying for that.

Now granted if you want to do it yourself you can but for you to say 1: its not quality and 2: its not a upgrade is complete horseshit.

Nistune suspension may not be your bee's knee's. Though it is an upgrade and those are not stock springs painted red they are uprated as well, compared to stock.

Oh and last time I checked ( LOL ) our cars( excepting 350Z's and 370's) did not come with strut bars, so they are again a upgrade.

Now as far as pricing goes some of the stuff is pricey, of course all factory Nissan stuff is not exactly cheap especially for our cars as they get older.

Are there parts out there that might be a better bang for the buck? Possible, though it does not mean Nismo stuff is crap and it is not. Its very good quality stuff for the enthusiast.

I think you are just someone that cannot tell shit from shit when it comes to parts.

yeah not to mention if you know who to look for in a better dealership (someone who knows the overseas parts numbers and can actually order the stuff) you can get modified cylinder heads, better brake parts new transmission gears and all manner of other crazy shit, just take a look at the Japanese Nismo parts list. just because people don't stock it doesn't mean that its not out there.

also, have you ever heard anything bad about the Nismo power brace? 'cause I sure haven't, I know people who have put it on with all factory suspension and still see a difference. and as a matter of course some other companies have copied the design for their own sales, can't remember who though.

Nismo makes some pretty Dope parts. Every single Nismo part I have on my car, I love, they preform top notch, are quality and have lasted me. Everything from my powerbrace to fpr to bushings to slave cylinder. I'm sorry dude, everyone has there own opinions, but you are pretty wrong in my book.

where are you buying these "Nismo" parts?

if you are eBaying, then they are actually called "Gismo" and not an authentic part. ;-)

Nismo products are designed for both performance and drivability.

in general, ricers (read: 240sx "enthusiasts". could be applied to other groups of "enthusiasts" as well) don't bother to consider drivability and only worry about looks. what will get the car the lowest. who cares if i destroy my fenders. who cares if it rides like shit. who cares if the car rattles apart in ten thousand miles. this product has a bigger logo on it. this product comes with more stickers. so on and so forth.

this is why you don't like Nismo products.

the motor mounts do suck, though.

I have a Nismo shift knob...its awesome! but i agree with Busted, Nismo is about performance AND drive ability. All in all great stuff though. So far OP is the only one that thinks otherwise.

More of a stock upgrade the way i see it. Like going from stock 15x6s to r33 or Z wheels.

Cant really expect much from aftermarket dealer parts.

I see what he means on some parts.

The only example where i think the OP has a point is in the LCA's. A buddie of mine bought a set of Nismo lower contraol arms. After taking off the old ones and comparing side by side there was literally no difference aside for the nice gray paint and a nismo sticker. The were not any beefier, the mounts where the same, there was nothing that showed it to be superior to stock. Those LCA's where at least $50 more then the stock ones too.

Did you expect nistune suspension to be baller ohlins or something? Nismo parts are just stock upgrades or rebranded parts. If there were race spec they wouldn't be offered by the dealer in most cases

Since OP can complain so much, I'd like him to say what they should have done instead.

NISMO is an OEM equivalent modification company for the most part.

Where you receive maximum performance without sacrificing too much ride quality or life of the product.

I've never had complaints about nismo parts. I was happy with my purchases, again and again.
