s14 Tuning Issues

I have s14 with s13 sr20det. I can't get the car to run. I have 550cc injectors, z32 maf and safc2. I have tried several settings and nothing is working for me. I have checked timing, spark and fuel. I timing is correct, getting plenty of fuel and even changed plugs after testing spark. Nothing. The turbo has been upgraded as well if that matters. Any Ideas?

Take a picture of all 4 spark plugs and uploaded. Also is there fuel smell on the plugs or oily stuff? Is the wiring done right?

What are you using to correct for the z32 maf? You can just slap it on and expect it to run.....

Was it running ok, then you changed turbo/maf/inj. and then it won't run? Or is it a fresh swap you're trying to get running? Or you've been running this setup and all the sudden won't start?

Do you have a stock ecu with just an safc?

was it running before at all?? when ur running the z32 maf the in and out should be 2in 5 out. if im not mistakin. tha usualy wut i use and then just change the correction on the fuel from thr. depending on wut the a/f guage is doing. do u have a/f guage hooked up?? is the maf connected rite. try disconecting it and see if it starts up??

I will try that - I did set the SAFC2 to 2in 5out for hotwire - it seems to run for a second with that setting but then cut off - do you think the ECU could be the issue? - I am just curious -

2in 5 out. or 2 in 6 out. somwhere around that range. its seems like u may be running to rich at start up.ur gona have to play with the fuel to get it to run right. do u have an a/f gauge conected.

There is no real point in paying someone to dyno tune your car with an SAFC.

You can only control fuel, not timing right?

In that case, just get a wideband and tune the AFRs on the street with the wideband and SAFC.

I have never used an safc but from how i understand it, it modifies the input signal from the maf, thus changing both fuel and ignition. If you're "tricking" the ecu into thinking there's less air, this could be dangerous tuning using just a wideband, because you will end up advancing the timing where it may/will be dangerous. I agree with you that "dyno tuning" with an safc is a waste. The $ spent on "dyno tuning" would be better spent just getting a rom tune. Or you could buy a programable daughter board with that $, and sell the safc to partially pay for real dyno tuning. Do it right instead of trying to band-aid with an safc.
