clutch humming?

i've searched a lot on this topic but couldn't find anything that was helpful. i just installed an ACT street clutch kit when i was installing my SR and its been making a wierd humming noise. the noise goes away when i depress the clutch pedal. but, when im letting the clutch out, it starts making the noise about 3 centimeters from the top. has this happened to anyone that installed a new clutch? does anyone know what it might be? thanks

I'm thinking it could be the synchros and not the clutch, but I could be wrong

Just noise and no vibration? Was the bearing replaced with a new one? Are all the bolts torqued properly?

Any of that can cause some nasty sounds.

Usually just the throw-out bearing. Aren't some aftermarket clutches suppost to make a bit of nose at first, due to the surface not being fully smooth. Then, after a few hundred miles it'll go away? Thought, I read that somewhere. My memory is horrible

If the humming didn't happen before you put the clutch in, then I highly doubt it is anything with the transmission. Most clutches need about a 500 mile break-in period, so it could just be that.

how on earth do you figure that it could be synchro related???

hmmm, it sounds like possibly the input shaft pilot bearing could be worn, its possible to damage it during installation if you arent careful. that would be the most likely thing if the noise goes away with the clutch disengaged and the car in neutral.
