Question overheating problem

ok i searched this fourm and still i am not happy with the results of my search. if anyone has any ideas please help.

ok i was driving down the road and i noticed the car was getting hot and the ac was on. so i pulled over to see what the deal was. i noticed the ac belt driven pump thing (compressor) was going on and off in no real cycles 1 min on 30 sec off and 3 min on and so forth.

the bearing sounded shot so i turned the ac off. i noticed the temp almost immediatly dropped back to normal. it was weard as soon as the ac was on again it continued to rise back to hot.

i had just installed my electric fans but i dont think thats the problem the ac semed to be couseing the heating problem?? i am so confused as to what it is anyone have any idea?? please help..

thanks ryan

These are the things that cause overheating.

Each one needs to be checked systematically.

1. Flow (clogged radiator vanes, radiator needs rodding out)
2. Blockage of air (bugs, debris)
3. Improper pressure (bleed valve open, bad radiator cap)
4. Electric fan not coming on with AC.
5. Dirty water, rusty.
6. Bent or kinked Hose.
7. Faulty head gasket (check compression)
8. Dirty or fouled Oil
9. Running without antifreeze (antifreeze raises the boiling point)
10.Faulty thermostat.
11.Bad heater core valve
12.Faulty o2 sensor (this is a long shot..but can happen)
13.Bad water pump (unlikely, unless leaking)
14.Low fluid level
15.Air in system (needs bleeding)
16.Blocked radiator hoses
17.Blockage or clog in the block
18. Faulty AC compressor and sealed system causing the condenser to overheat.
19.Slipping water pump belt.
20.Dragging brakes

It is one or more of the above. If all of that is proper, you will not overheat.

Another thing...

If it is automatic, your transmission fluid shares part of the radiator and you need to add a stand alone transmission cooler.

The A/C condenser is HOT when used and right in front of the radiator. IT is normal to expect some temperature rise but never past half way on the needle. Your car should be able to idle in 40C heat for 30 mins with AC on without overheating.
