Leaky Injector

![]() Hi guys,
My Brakes have been sweaking so I take it in, the guy says its the shime on the inside of the caliper. Normally he would shave the rotors down so there would be no more noise. However my rotors are very worn and need replacement. My qustion is do i need new calipers or can i just buy new rotors, shims and pads... Thanks a lot |

you dont need new clipers, calipers dont wear down, just pads and rotors... the only contacting surfaces.. is that all your asking?

If it really was the shim and you took it to a good honest mechanic then he would have stuck some di-electric(or equivilant) compound on the shim to keep it from squeaking. A bottle costs around $2. Also if he turned the rotors without replacing the pads then your braking would be worse because the two wouldn't be making proper contact. Just look at your rotors. If they have a lot of high and low rings worn into them then they are probably about ready to be replaced or resurfaced. Pads should be replaced also. When pads wear they have a little metal piece on them that contacts the rotor to make noise to tell you they are wearing out. If you let it go to long you may get a grinding noise.
