I drive a 96' black 240sx. I just learned manual like 2 months ago so i let my brother drive it because he drives a manual rsx and he had way more experience in racing than me. I wanted to see what i could race and what i couldnt race. So i decided to test it out on a integra LS and my bro lost to it by a whole car length. Arent 240s suppose to be faster than the LS? One reason it may have won is because it was fixed up with exhaust and intake, but it was like a 89 integra. Do you guys think i should get my engine checked out to see if i am getting enough hp to the wheels as i should?

Thanks

You could do a complete tune-up, change everything (fluid, belts), add a exhaust and intake, then you'll bet that LS.

I kinda lost to a Civic which had exhaust, intake, suspension and was stick. My car is a '95 auto.

I said kinda lost because he cut between two cars on the highway and I was right behind he....i hate hatchbacks and there smallness.

Cap and Rotor = $17
Plugs = $4 a piece
Wires = $25-30
Oil = $1.50/quart
Oil Filter = $4
Tranny fluid = ?
Grease for Joints = $3

For a grand total of ~$75-85

Edit:  I can't add

eh....89 integra ls is a 118hp d-series pile of crap........either the gear ratios r still better then t he 240sx....which most hondas r......or it's time for a full tune up!

hey man, don't bash the car... I have one! But yeah, like tofu said, it is a slow a$$ piece of shiet. Actually, I believe the hp is 113. Most likely, it wasn't a 1st gen integra because performance parts are extremely hard to find (i tried) and it was never considered to be "sports car." However, it may've been a 2nd gen integra, but with basic bolt ons, you should still be able to win. so either there's something else under the hood, the driver, or something's seriously wrong with your car. But any performance loss like that, you should be able to tell something's wrong.

CrazyGoofyWeirdGuy, I'm sure it was him since speedemon is such a rare name...

Basic bolt-ons don't seem to do all that much for a low displacement engine like in a honda. And generally they wouldn't allow you to beat a car that you previously couldn't before the bold-ons...unless the previous margin of loss was a very small one.

Hopefully a tune-up will help.
Also, for oil I usually pay about $5 a quart (mobile 1 synthetic) and ~$8 for the filter...tranny oil should be about the same price.

Edit: also be sure to replace your air filter. K&N or oem replacement...I don't think it'll really matter.
