Dash lights, a/c lights, running lights, tail lights will not turn off.
dash lights/running lights stay on at all times even when key is off and out of ignition. I've traced wires and didnt find a short, disconnected the ignition cylinder. plug and played with fuses and relays cannot find out the problem. Anyone give me any pointers would be greatly appreciated. THanks
UPDATE:tracked down all wires, no wires seem to be cut or grounding out all the way from tail lights to fuse box by driver side kicker panel. I've tried a new TCU, illunimation dimmer, and the light toggle switch thing. Nothing has fixed it. Checked all connections on lower harness, even replaced the lower harness. Still NOTHING. harness has already been tucked in fenders on both sides and have nothing worn down on them to be causing a ground. Only two ways to turn off the lights on said gauges, a/c controls running lights and tail lights are to disconnect the alternator fuse or battery. I REALLY NEED HELP THIS IS A PAIN IN THE ASSSS!!!! thanks again dash lights/running lights stay on.....HELP |

^that would be the multifunction switch your talking about lol.
as to this original issue... damn thats a tough one. check all fuses? seems like it'd be putting a drain on the engine... so do a test by putting a circuit tester light on the battery with car off. hold it for 5 minutes if it still is lit up, there is a drain on your battery. then if so, which obviously there is, pull the fuses until the light cuts off. you will need a friend for this. and single out a circuit. then i would just go ahead and run through that entire circuit. |

No everything else is fine with it. I'm no beginner at this stuff either. I've stripped everything but the dash tracking down a ground. Under my dash is completely gutted. Everything on steering column works, the lights come on like the head light knob is turned just one click, the click before actual head lights come on. I've replaced it though and it didnt fix the problem.

all of those lights are on a single fuse, in the driver kickpanel. the 15 amp tail lamp fuse. at least for a s13. if you pull that one all of those should turn off. if not then theres a short between there.
if they go off, but go back on when it is in, i would say its the multifuntion switch. the one that turns on headlights and turn signals |
