I have a s14.5 and when i drive it around the wiper seems to turn on automatically even though the wiper switch is off. I can't seem to turn it off. Can it be the wiper motor or the wiper switch. Can't figure it out need help

Check your fuses mainly electronics and room lamp. Also consider using the small questions thread. Hope that helps

it's probably a faulty switch. the contacts are probably warn out.
or it could be your wiper motor amp going out as well.

Nah man its constant even when driving normal or when the car is stationary. Its weird. I think mad-ass is right. it might be the contacts and the faulty switch

the smj is a big connector that passes through the firewall. Every electrical component outside the cockpit passes through it. When it comes loose shit like this happens. Or the wires in the fender well rub so look into both because multiple issues sounds suspicious.

Ill check into it. Hey but dis is a random and stupid question. Is is best to send my s14.5 to a Nissan specialist and work on the electrical. If so, is it worth paying for the labor and everything or should i just bring it to a local shop that knows a lot about 240s. There's a shop around my area called George and Sons and their known for sr swaps and so on. Worth bringing it to Nissan or local shop??

True...but if it just has a front end conversion, only thing that would have needed to be worked on electrical wise is the front head light setup.

what kind of a problem are you having that you are looking for a shop to fix..?

there really isn't a thing that you can't search for on the internet for 240 electrical problems....

Ok. Everything was working fine when i got my 40. Then i found out that something is draining my battery. I have to charge my battery every time my battery has low voltage. Second, i found that the fuses are all mixed up (ex. my fuel pump fuses was specified to using 15 amps, then i noticed that it was using a 10amp fuse) Of coarse that's not right, so i put all fuses to specs. Now my head lights and dash lights aren't working

So is it worth bringing it to a Nissan specialist or a local shop that is known for fixing up 240s?

I don't wanna deal any electrical probs, i might kill the car.
Any suggestions?

as far as draining goes, get your alternator tested. or start the car and see how many volts it's putting out. your alternator may be going out thus why your battery is low voltage every time and your car is running on battery's power only. or your battery is bad/old and may not be holding the charge long enough. OR....both of your battery and alternator is going bad. let me know what you have installed in the car as far as aftermarket electronics if your battery and alternator are both good after testing.

dash lights will not work if your interior illumination fuse is blown. check that out first.

and your headlights...did it work before and it just stopped working after you been driving the car around? does any of your parking lights turn on?[front bumper side markers, corner lights are considered parking lights for the front of of the car] if they do work, check the head light bulbs out and the fuse. a fuse can look fine from out side inspection, but they can have bad contacts. replace it with another one just to make sure that isn't the problem. also measure the voltage on the headlight bulb sockets. getting no power...? look on the harness inside the front fender well. are they worn through? if they are, repair the broken wires properly.[if the wire's vinyl skin is warn through but wire still there, cut the wires back about 1 inch and SOLDER in a new wire in place. and shrink wrap it over the solder. don't be lazy and butt connect everything. do same if the wires are completely rubbed through]

next electrical problem.

I have an aftermarket radio and alarm. Do you think that could drain the battery. Oh yeah i check the alternator, seems fine and i just bought a new battery months ago and it still gets drained.

The other electrical tests you said, still in the progress....

what do you mean when you say "it seems fine"? not giving me/us much to work with here because you clearly stated that you aren't very good with elec. problems...not saying you are dumb here. but I do have to expect the worst when helping members with problems. so please do include more information.

and yes, i have seen numbers of alarm system that has been installed wrong and drained the car's battery every day.

I used a Black & Decker car battery charger and it has a self alternator tester. The tester works by putting the neg and posit cable to the terminals. Then start the car and wait for it to program itself. Then a green light would pop up showing that the alternator is good. If its bad it would turn red. Not sure if that alternator tester is accurate and i know that there's another way to test an alternator.

And yes im not really good at electrical, the fact that its one of the hardest task in the automotive world. That's why i said that it's "fine" because im not sure of the tester.
I know that i drove my 40 around alot and i don't see anything wrong with the alternator.

Another thing that i found is that there's a thick red wire and a thin black wire that's cut and its just dangling around in the side of the engine bay (left side when looking at the engine bay) I can't trace it. Also i got a red and black wire inside my trunk just hanging out.My friend said that both the wires in the front and trunk is for sounds and stereo.

Could that cause some grounding?? I'll post a pic later

pics would help out a lot with this! i know you said you gona post pic later...

does the big red wire look like...
that? really flexible and see through vinyl skin? then it probably was for a stereo subwoofer amp.

and the wire in the trunk...does it look like a stock wire coding?

i'll wait for the pics.

and if you have a volt meter..put it to a DCv 20V setting, put it to the battery terminal with car off. normal batt should read 12.4~9v's, and with the car on, the alternator should be feeding the battery with 13.9~14.9V's.

edit: you said you use the black/decker charger right? does it give you battery voltage reading when you hit the button that says "Voltage check"? if so..hit that button while it's connected with the car running and see how much volts reading it gives you.

Looks like someone had subs in the trunk. Thats what the thick wire is for. Is the car lowered at all?
