Do a search next time.
If you can, go for a coilover setup. Let us know how much you want to spend. If can't afford coilovers, go for a nice spring/shock combo, AGX or Konis/RSR race springs. |

hmm first go read about suspension components. as i learned like every other noob there's alot more to suspension then just springs and shocks (which is what i assume you're really asking about). for instance just getting better grip tires will make a world of difference... anyway spring shock i would go kyb agx and eibachs (or some similar $200) springs... beginner set up for $600-ish. that's about as cheap as you can go without hitting e-bay.

Stick with your stock ones. Learn to drive with it before you upgrade. Get some sticky performance tires and stiffen up your car with front and rear strut bars. If you still feel the need for an upgrade, then get the ever so popular KYB AGX/Eibach Sportline combo. They'll run you about $520 plus shipping on eBay. I was going to go with the AGX/Sportline route myself, but instead I got in on the D2 full coilovers group buy on Nico. They only cost a few dollars more than the AGX/Sportline setup.

What you do with your car is up to you. As long as you don't cheap out on the suspension then it should be all good. If you can afford it then go ahead and get the JIC coilovers. I personally prefer full coilovers over lowering springs and strut/shock setup. I thought you were looking for beginner's suspension though?

Here's what I did, and I'm pretty happy with it. It isn't much of a drop, so try different springs if you want to drop it more like 2 inches. It's nice being able to cut lanes at 110 with no overshoot, and the bars help tremendously with that, so don't leave out a set of anti-roll bars.

I've got a lot of track experience and regularly podium in Solo2 and I'm pretty sure I couldn't make intelligent use of a "full racing" setup. Collecting expensive, exotic parts is fine if that's your deal but you can make an otherwise decent car drive like ass if you jump in head first. Also, you haven't given us enough info to give advice on setups. What kind of condition is the car in? What kind of diff? Tires? It makes a difference. Just take your time. Read. Search. Ask questions. (in that order)

"nice being able to cut lanes at 110 with no overshoot"
*shakes head* I think a nice beginner setup is stock with GOOD all around (not all season!) performance tires. Fresh or aftermarket bushings all around will do wonders to help you feel the road and take out the slop of your suspension components. As you want to deviate from that, sway bars are a great first mod. Getting better steering feedback is VERY helpful for learning so you could go for some aftermarket tie rods and tc rods. Then springs/shocks or coilovers. After that I dono, but I'd say going for other aftermarket arms to fine tune your suspension geometry would be a good next step. there are bunches of random "chassis strengthening" parts that people claim help them go faster but I wouldn't bother with them until you get your suspension working hard enough to flex your chassis to a noticable amount. though some could say you want chassis bracing FIRST so you don't get your car bent and weakened. *shrugs* I don't think anybody on here really knows the effects of all that stuff beyond the fact that flex changes suspension geometry and therefore is bad. Really to help you we need your goals and price range. |

well... aside from the driver aspect of things....
a decent setup of springs and shocks might actually come out as pricey as some lower end coilover setups. JIC FLT-A1 US coilovers came out (recently i guess? i miss out on these things) and retail for $1100. CIP motorsports has them for $892. I actually double checked the price with Jeff.... cause it seemed so wrong of a price to have perch and lower mount adjustability, 5 position adjustable dampening, and front camber plates....

sorry about being so vague, you are right, I don't know much about suspension yet. That's why I was asking you guys to see if you guys had any experience with previous "beginner" setups so I could get some ideas from you guys. Thanks for the feedback guys I'll take up some your advice and do more research then before asking questions.

i have the AGX/Eibach prokit setup, personally i would recommend that... sportlines are lower and my car is already low enough, for me at least.
anti-sway bars and aftermarket bushings is my next step after the rb25 is in... really it depends on what you want to do with the car, my car will be a daily driven occasional dragstrip/auto-x car and i didn't feel as though coilovers were a must... just my 2 cents
