pre prep for moroso oil pan, so it wont leak
this is a easy diy for the moroso oil pan for the sr, i recieved my oil pan and notice where they machine the flange for bolts there are lip which in turn wont seal the best on the sr upper oil pan lower mounting flange.
Here we start with the product. ![]() Here is a pic showing the lip from the drill. ![]() ![]() ![]() Get your dremel tool out, with a fine sand paper roll.... like a 200 grit or so ![]() Lightly drag across the black area you marked using your finger rubbing over it to feel for the ridge. Caution, Alot of pressure will dig into the oil pan causing a dip where you were gringing making a crappy maiting surface. ![]() This is the ground ones, look you can see i only shaved the ridge ![]() ![]() After shaving you need to clean the pan due to metal shavings inside. Start by removing the drain plug. ![]() sray entire pan with brake cleaner and wiping it down, make sure to spray the inside area and behind the baffles flushing it all towards the drain plug. ![]() This should help with the sealing propertys of the oil pan, this is a beautiful part, and super strong. Thanks, feel free to add, i should have a install diy ready in a few days Last edited by cparcell; 03-17-2012 at 07:56 AM.. |

Huh, I just installed mine about a week ago. Top mating surface was milled down flat. I wonder why yours was like that?
I ended up only using the studs that came with it on the 4 "inside" the pan. Trying to use them on the outside the nuts would hit the welds on the outside of the pan. Neat write up! |

Another easier method would be to take a counter sink or a larger drill bit and hit the ridges until they were flat, should only take a few rotations with a drill.
