S13: Fuel pump problem.

RB20DET
1991 240SX

I'm having a problem with my fuel pump. Its not turning on when I turn on the ignition. I tested the wire that connects to the sending unit and it has power, I also took out the fuel pump and tested it on a battery by itself and it works fine so I figured it had something to do with the sending unit so I bought a new one, still nothing. Other than the 2 green relays, what else could it be?

The fuel pump has a fuse and a relay associated with it. Have you checked those? See if you can manually trigger the pump relay. You already know the pump works, it's either ecu, wiring, fuse or relay. Or all of those combined!

I have located! no power going to the fuel pump with the ignition on, but theres power at the fusebox and power where the 5 wires on the pump bracket are.

I had same issue. It was the sending unit, rivets on inside had bad contacts. Just replace sending unit and you'll be fine. Don't rewire, remember it's fuel you're dealing with, just get another sending unit.

jump pin 87 and 30 on the fuel pump relay to see if it'll turn the pump on or not with key in "on" position.

Check the base that the fuel pump is mounted on. Move the wires around to see if it kicks on. I had this same problem and it ended up being the metal tabs that the fuel pump wires go to werent making contact/were bent. Take the fuel pump out of the car while still connected and turn the ignition on, thats the only way I found the problem. I'm pretty sure its not your relay/fuse. Those contacts will also make your fuel pump make a groaning noise if they are bent. Hope this helps and goodluck!

Do that, if the pump powers on, it's the trigger wire pink/black or the ecu has a burnt trace.
This stuff has been covered guys.
There is noway i would suggest pulling or working on the pump assembly with out checking these things first. Wiring, relay, fuse, and ecu.<--------free shit!!!
