![]() I'm specificallly wondering if Exedy's hyper single clutch can compare and be equal to ORCs triple plated multi plated clutch. What are the pros and cons to each? Could Exedy's be able to handle 400-500hp? I'm not very experienced with knowing which part is right for my car but I want to become informed.

I heard of some Exedy Hyper Single failing right under 400tq, there's a few threads on here if you search..
Multi plates clutches are definitely stronger then singles just because the extra pressure plate. 2 pressure plate > one pressure plate. |

Twin/triple plate clutches only have one pressure plate. The advantage to a multi-plate setup is you have more surface area for the clutch to grab. This allows them to hold more power while also keeping the PP clamping load lower. In order for a single plate clutch to hold equal amounts as a multi you have to ramp up the clamping load on the PP. This in turn creates the "heavy" clutch feeling. The more clamping load, the heavier they are, generally speaking anyway. There are a lot of other factors that go into making a good clutch though.
